Michael is a community pharmacist practicing in the Midlands and South Yorkshire with more than 20 years’ experience advising on medicines and medical conditions. He has a strong background in healthcare training, having produced and delivered training courses for pharmacy teams and staff of residential care settings, including nurses. He has also contributed to pharmacy advisory boards for the management of low acuity conditions in the community.

Michael spent 6 years as an information pharmacist at head-office for a large-multiple pharmacy chain. He provided guidance and advice to pharmacists on clinical, professional and regulatory issues, developing policies and procedures and supporting delivery of clinical services.

During the Covid-19 pandemic Michael participated in a pharmacy-based vaccination clinic, delivering over 4000 Covid vaccinations to the local population during the initial roll-out. He also returned to community practice where he is currently preparing for the NHS Pharmacy First service.

Moxifloxacin for eye infections
Medicines

Use moxifloxacin eye drops three times a day. Your vision may become slightly blurred for a short while after using the drops. If so, do not drive and do not use tools or machines until you can see clearly again. After your symptoms have gone, continue to use the drops for a further 2-3 days to make sure all the infection has cleared. Do not wear contact lenses until 24 hours after your last dose.

Tobramycin for eye infections
Medicines

Use the drops twice a day for seven days, unless you have been told otherwise by your doctor. Your vision may become slightly blurred for a short while after using the drops. If so, do not drive and do not use tools or machines until you can see clearly again. Do not wear contact lenses until your symptoms have completely gone.

Levofloxacin eye drops
Medicines

Use the drops every two hours during the day for the first two days, then reduce the frequency down to four times a day for the next three days. Your vision may become slightly blurred for a short while after using the drops. If so, do not drive and do not use tools or machines until you can see clearly again. Do not wear contact lenses until 24 hours after your symptoms have completely gone.

Betamethasone for severe inflammatory skin conditions
Medicines

You only need to use a small amount of this preparation. Apply it thinly just to the areas affected, and then massage it gently into the skin until it disappears. Topical corticosteroids should not be used for long periods of time or on large areas of the body, especially in children. The most common side-effect is some mild irritation when applied. Other side-effects occur only rarely.

Carteolol eye drops for glaucoma
Medicines

Carteolol eye drops are used to control increased pressure within your eye (glaucoma). Remember to use the drops regularly twice a day - try not to miss any doses. If you normally wear soft contact lenses, please make sure your doctor knows about this.
