What's in a web address?

Some of the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed that as of yesterday, we moved web addresses from patient.co.uk to patient.info.

Some of the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed that as of yesterday, we moved web addresses from patient.co.uk to patient.info. A small change, but for big reasons.

Over the past couple of years, site traffic to our health information has soared. Recommendation and referral, the growth of people hungry for trusted health information, our own PR and marketing campaigns, have all contributed to this.

What has been most remarkable is that the growth has not just occured in the UK, but globally. In January 2011, 2.6 million unique users visited Patient and over 76% were from the UK. In January 2015, over 18 million unique users visited Patient with 41% coming from the UK.

It seems that people have a need for trusted health information across the globe and the resources we provide are helping people, which we are delighted with. So our web address has changed to reflect that growing audience.

The good news is that all of the old patient.co.uk links will still work. So if you have bookmarks stored away, you can still click them and get to the information.

And rest assured, our commitment to producing the most trusted and up-to-date, evidence based health information remains true. Our editorial values haven't changed. Neither have our reference sources. We are proud to create information based on UK and european guidelines. We are proud to be part of The Information Standard.

And we are pleased that more people can now gain benefit from it.
