2.5mm oesteochondral lesion of the talus. Help

Has anyone recovered from this without surgery due to its small size? After 12 months of x rays, physiotherapy and finally an MRI scan, discovered I had this small lesion on the talus and have been non weight bearing now for 5 weeks.  I still have pain but am having physio 3 times a week and not sure if the pain is from the muscles etc.  I am not strapped up at all.

    Hello,

When I read this I see my case - 1 year and 1 month since I broke my talus. The last month the doctors found out that the talus is snaller and is going to necrose....

At the moment I have 2 choices, maybe..

    1. AMIC transplantation

    2. Waiting 6 months and fusion after that

I dont know what to do, what will lead to success. I am in pain and barely walk.

What are you going to do?

Hi! I have my next appointment on 6th Feb.  I am still non weight bearing but not in a cast or anything. The worst part is I live on a spanish island and I am not sure if I will get the best care.  I started the physio 4 weeks ago and having acupuncture for pain which was almost gone, until I got a new physio a week and a half ago.  She has been pressing so hard on my ankle including the painful parts I am now in pain again.  I am really worried as I have booked to go on holiday end of May. Long flight to USA. You don't say how old you are but things are supposed to heal better if you are young.  I am a young 56 and liked to walk and am incredibly active so this has been like a jail sentence.  I have a lot of questions to ask the specialist since reading up on this condition and am taking a translator.  One of the things that stand out after I have read up on this is that you should have a surgeon who specialises in these things.  Ask your surgeon how many of these operations he has carried out. It is frustrating...........let me know what you decide and how it goes!  Good luck!  I will keep you posted once I have seen my specialist too!

Hello, thank you for your answer! I am 33 years-old. I also have the problem with good medical service, because I live in small country and here the medicine is not so good. So I have to go abroad and pay so much money I dont have... But firstly I have to make a research if the AMIC will help me.

      Regards
