acid reflux

I have suffered from reflux longer than I care to remember also ibs for over 30yrs I have decided to take a chance and ask for reflux surgery, l have tried coming off the tablets but always relapse, l do know that having both reflux and IBS is living hell on earth. I have just recently been to another GI consultant and I would have had better help from my cat, it was the same old thing keep taking the tablets even though I once again explained I had bad side effects it's like talking to a brick wall, So can anyone give me there views on having surgery please.

If you do not have a hernia your first best option should be a stretta therapy. ;-)

Thank you for your comments, but yes I do have a 2cm hiatus hernia, I forgot to mention in my post, so I don't know if Stretta treatment is possible , but I have read about it. I also have bile reflux after having my gallbladder removed 7yrs ago. But again thanks for your interest.

      Yw, ;-)

I also had my gallbladder removed a little over a year ago.  Based on what I read I don't have bile reflux, but can you tell me the symptoms you have for this?  and how they detected you have bile reflux?  I'm going to see my ENT and GI in the next 2 weeks so it will be something I  can check with them.

I had that much pain actually in my stomach after the gallbladder removed that I kept going back to the Drs and she just kept saying it was the IBS. In the end I asked for a scope and the Dr who performed it said that bile was gushing into my stomach it's similar to acid but does alot more damage, because of it I also polyps in my stomach. At the time I was put on anti sickness tablet but they found they cause heart problems and people had died because of them so they were taken off me and I was left with nothing again just get on with it. Sorry it's long reply but if you are having any problems then ask for a scope, hopefully it won't be anything but it will put your mind at ease. Good luck 🍀.

Thanks!  I had 3 endoscopy's and 1 PH Bravo (another endoscopy) so far and besides mild reflux and inactive gastritis nothing else. No stomach pain, but I do have serious inhale breathing problems all day long which apparently is silent reflux because it affects my throat and nose as well. Plus I have chest/back and rib-cage pain, I did have mild SIBO which I'm not sure is cured. I wll see my GI and ENT in the next 2 weeks and will ask them for another Barium swallow, maybe another endoscopy and the ENT check my nose and throat for irritation.  I have a feeling this time is not going to be mild. ;-(  Thanks 4 Your reply and hope all goes well with you. God Bless!

Nice to hear from you, you have gone through a lot of tests also I just pray that they can find a cure for the IBS and I am sure all the other symptoms would clear in time plus the constant anxiety with it all day after day. I have been ill so long I don't know what normal is anymore, anyway enough of my moaning, hope you have some good news when you see the specialist. Take care of yourself.
