Alcohol

Hello my fellow anxiety friends lol. I've been on citalopram for 9 months. 8 months on 10 mg and 2 weeks on 20 mg. I was wondering if any of you ever drank alcohol while taking it. I'm not a big drinker at all. But I like to have a drink or 2 every couple months. But I don't dare since I've been on this medication. I was wondering if any has?

Yes that's what happens to me. I let the anxiety get the best of me and stop me from having a drink.

Hi daisy1021...my advice would be don't drink wine!! I've been on cit since august 2016...and I've been one of the very lucky ones that this Med has worked for me and had very little side effects...I used to love a drink when socialising with friends (not that often due to the anxiety) from august till November I probably darank about 3 times and just had a couple of beers..and was fine! Due to working all Christmas and new year I didn't drink at all...then after new year had gone I went out with friends to celebrate new year again as I couldn't celebrate with them!! I had 3 beers and felt fine...I then had 2 glasses of wine 🙈 Big mistake!! Couldn't remember getting home...was sleep walking all night...tried putting my password for work in the search engine on fbook...haha...it's funny...but it wasn't as I can't remember a thing!! Woke up next day and felt awful!! Felt like that for a few days...disorientated...frightened...like all my symptoms were back again...although it did pass!! So...my advice flower...would be to have a drink...but take it easy!! (I've also read on other forums not to drink wine...or in moderation and if food comes along with it 👍🏻😉...we've got to still have a life...but from now on...I no my limits) have a fab night tho x

Hi Daisy
I took Citalopram for 16 years and still enjoyed the occasional drink. All I'd say is that if you want to try then have a tiny amount and see how you go from there.
We're all different and react differently.
