Anterior Tibial Tendon Rupture

Hi - I have a complete tear of Anterior Tibial Tendon and surgery scheduled in 2 weeks. Wondering if anyone else has had this type of tendon injury and repair and what I can expect with regard to recovery process and timing. Thanks for any insight and experience you might provide.

    Hi

How did this accident occurr? What were you doing at the time?

Hi Jean - was playing softball and running the bases. I have experienced various forms of foot pain (left and right) over the past 15 years or so. Have been wearing custom orthodics for about that same length of time to support flat feet. Had some pain under and across top of left foot just prior to the injury. There was some sharp shooting pain/burning in ankle and left shin area followed by tenderness and swelling. Both the pain and swelling went away after about a week but my foot would "flop" when walking. That brought me to ortho ankle specialist who diagnosied the ATT rupture and MRI confirmed a complete tear of the tendon. I have found some info on the ATT repair procedure but very little on teh recovery process. Haven't had a chance to talk about that in detail with my surgeon as yet so hoping someone on this forum might shed some light

Please think if you had any medication especially any antibiotics prior to the initial injury to your foot.

      Thanks

      Jean
