Are the lumps harmless?

Hello

I've had niggling lower pack pain for 6 months, and movable lumps under the skin on my left lower back - almost ping pong ball size. A few weeks ago, my back totally went, I had sciatica and have been diagnosed with herniated L5S1 through an MRI.

I asked the doc if these lumps had anything to do with it. They still hurt to press and are still there. She said they're just fatty deposits.

If they are harmless, would that have shown on the MRI? Are they back mice? Or nothing to worry about?

If they are painful they may be pressing on a nerve. I had several much smaller ones than yours removed some years ago.

Thanks Derek - do you think this would have shown up on the MRI? They can certainly see the prolapsed disc pressing on the nerve but didn't seem bothered about these lumps.

Hope you've made a full recovery

I don't know. I had a full spine and pelvic MRI in June and there were several things they did not mention that I know are there. I have some lumpy bits on my back and stomach and a small hernia.

I am going for an ultrasound scan for them.
