Awaiting referral, but in a lot of pain, does this sound like a herniated disc?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice to get me through the next few weeks while I wait for scans and referral to a back specialist. I'll try and keep it short! When I was pregnant (he's 18months now) I suffered from hyperemises (severe sickness & dehydration) and was sick 20+ times a day, as you can imagine I ended up with a lot of back pain and labour made it worse. Over the last year- 6months the pain has gotten alot worse. Running from where my shoulder blades end and about 4-5 discs down towards the base of my back has gone completely numb. I cant feel any sensation on the skin and apart from the normal pain I have an intense burning sensation constantly, getting worse with movement. I'm really struggling with day to day life and am getting regular migraines. if I tilt my head forward my back goes into spasm and I am now getting the same burning pain in my neck, does this sound like herniated discs or chord compression? Everything I look at on google related to my symptoms suggests that could be the problem, ANY help would be greatly appreciated, tia, Sarah

Thanks love, hopefully I get an appointment through soon and get some answers! I'm getting so fed up with it all, was up in pain with my back and finally fell asleep around 3.30am. Then was woken up at 4am with a bad migraine again, safe to say I'm like the walking dead today 😂

    Hi Sarah

I am sorry to hear how much you are suffering especially while caring for a wee one. I hope you get word of a scan or appointment soon. Had the gp prescribed you any medication in the meantime?

    Take care

Thanks for you kind words 😊 I've been put back on amitriptyline, building it back up to 75mg, on 30 at the moment, but hoping to get some answers soon as it took me coming off all painkillers and going into the doctors in agony to make them finally do something 😔 Hoping for some kind of response within the next week or so

They really per me of the doctors . It's a case of pop them that should keep u quite. Regardless of the damage it dose to u mentally and also internally. Pain relief masks the problem yrs of medication must cost almost as much as a MRI or CT . So why don't the nip it in the bud from the onest . Honestly system is s joke at times

That was exactly my point Jessica, that's why I came off all the pain relief and told them I don't want to mask the pain, I want to fix the problem. I had an MRI just after I had my wee boy, which shown bulging discs, but after telling them the pain had gotten worse and was over a larger area and then with all the numbness, they just decided to dope me up rather than send me for another scan to get the full picture! They really are a joke sometimes!
