back in hospital

some may recall my discussion  last night with my 10year old and 7 week later  

today we went back to the hospital and seen the rheumatologist  who wasnt happy with my daughter symptoms.  

after heart scan, chest xray and lots and lots of blood test we are told my daughter has juvenile idiopathic arthritis  . 

Her blood showed up very high levels of inflammation all over.

I asked if this was due to hsp. I was told they think hsp was a red herring! !!

    Yikes !   So, interestingly enough, this also has almost the exact same symptoms as HSP and in fact HSP is still just a description of the result from the same symptoms.   They both are from overreacting immune system in which case I still there is a case for taking the prednisone which suppresses the overreacting immune system.  I still think you should see an immunologist.  I suspect the rheumatologist does not understand what HSP is and the fact is that both these things are very similar.   I am wondering what he recommends then to put your kid on the road to recovery?    One more thing, please search the internet for studies and HSP.  I found one that stated early use of Prednisone led to better outcomes which makes sense as the more time your body is in this overreactive immune system mode, the more damage it does.  If it is making the very real bleed through on your skin, imagine what is happening in the internal organs in places.   Research, research, research, see more and different doctors, get more opinions.

    Hmmm. That's interesting! Please keep us posted. Hoping that since they have diagnosed juvenile idiopathic arthritis they have a plan on how to help her?

      Yes she is I'm hospital for the weekend now and on some very strong steroids first dose over 4 hrs and tomorrow over 2 hours. They will see how that goes. Wednesday she is see a specialist that deals with joint pain and he will make up a long term plan
