Morning Happy Hippies everywhere!
Hope you are all progressing well.
Just a quick update - 6 weeks post op last Wednesday and I had clearance to drive on week 5, but just felt a bit lacking in confidence.
So, yesterday, desperate for a pedicure, bit the bullet and off I went, no problem at all. Felt as if I had been let out of prison!
Also walking a lot more unaided. Just seems to have happened overnight, which I have found seems to happen with every bit of progress made since my op.
Don't know if it was the driving yesterday - only went 2/3 miles or the fact that I am not using the crutches much now, but lower back and top of pelvis and top of thighs on both sides really ache when I walk. Probably using muscles that haven't seen the light of day for a while!
Maybe a bit of an easier day is needed today. Not really resting much during the day now. I work mainly from home, so doing more of that now and more housework. Even climbed on a chair to clean out cupboards this morning - now that is progress!
Sleeping really well at night now - do wake up a couple of times, but am able to nod off again.
We do have to remember how far we have come in the few relatively short amount of time since our ops.
Dull and drizzly here in North Warwickshire today - hope it's better where you are!
Best wishes to all with your hippy journeys
Linda xx

I thought all this lying around was going to be a holiday from work but not so much as it turns out!
I'm stlll really struggling with sleeping but I think I'm in a bad sleeping pattern now so may need a week of sleeping tablets to get back into a routine. Going to give it another week of trying before I go down that path though.
Beautiful sunny day here in Oz but still a bit chilly
Again, well done and I hope you enjoyed your pedi?

Yes I've been sleeping on my side since they showed me how to do it in hopsital with the pillow between my legs but my left side isn't my normal sleeping position. My normal sleeping position is right side with my left leg stuck out. My physio showed me how I can sleep on my tummy as long as I put pillows under my operated hip and thigh and pretty comfy like that but as I said I think I've just gotten into a bad sleeping patttern.
It has been a lovely sunny day today and I had a lovely walk around the block in the sunshine.
xx

It's now coming together for me, though I do feel the odd one out as my op wasn't planned, no idea what to expect, fell onto the right hip on the Friday, was operated on 8-30 am Sat, I am now ten weeks, have just driven the car around the village during the evening (when quite) leg and ankle was too swollen to try before, couldn't switch between pedals quickly enough,
Sleep was awful, heels hurt, now can lay on either side for short times, can sleep for four and a half hours at a time (thats my record) have got into the bath bit of a struggle, but managed it after several practice tries, when family here.
Walk inside unaided, outside with one stick, not tried on wet pavement/roads, still afraid of that , the best way to get over that would be, if the rain started when I was already out, and to get home,
Next target is to kneel down ( garden weeding) can avoid that due to weather

Great feeling, isn't it, to just know that you can get in to your car and drive .. freedom, independence !!! However, when you don't feel confident or comfortable doing so, just wait until you do ! I drive like an "old" woman when I do - overly cautious and all that -
Walking unaided for me I noticed that my posture is still off .. I limp and wobble (also due to my other hip behaving badly) - so pride aside and the cane is with me -I have mentioned it before, but getting in and out of the car is still challenging for me ...
And maybe the chair you sat in while getting your pedicure might also have caused the back pain -
At least you have happy feet !!!!!
Take it easy and be gentle with your self today ... who said that this was a vacation !!!!
warm hug
love,

Hope you are doing good.
Although you don't notice it the time, all these extra bits of activity do seem to bring out the aches and pains. YesterdayI had a couple of work related meetings with quite a few flights of office steps to climb plus a social evening on the night time. Nothing really strenuous at all, but do I ache this morning!
Just been speaking to the physio at my hospital as surgeon wanted me to have some treatment and he said that 7 weeks is really early days still, you are talking 10-12 weeks basic recovery time. So we do expect too much and like everyone says - he also said rest up till you feel better. Some days you just feel good and think you are back to normal - not so!
Pedi was good - now got lovely fluorescent pink nails, but I did have my leg up on a high little perch whilst she did the necessary... need I say more,
We will never learn will we?
Hope your move preparations are going well - dull and dismal day here where I live - where has the summer gone?
Hope you are not in any pain and feeling OK
Kind wishes Linda xx

Not doing so great at the moment - This whole moving thing is making me anxious and so stressed out - I thought that I could do more but both hips are acting up pretty soon - I am very careful but have to bend and lift stuff and put in boxes - make boxes as well -
no help at the moment -
I think I will find an empty spot on the couch and try to get some zzzz's -
thanks Linda -
warm hug

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling too good. Not good to be doing all that boxing up - it's the bending and lifting that does it. Is there no one at all that can give you a hand? You don't want to end up making yourself ill.
Just take care now and I hope you get a good night's sleep
Lots of love Linda xx
