Back Pain, Puffy eyes, lock of concentration. PLEASE HELP!

Im 31 years old, I been living with this internal back pain for 12 years in this recent few years i notice my eyes began to get puffy and I been having problems concentrating and feeling fatigue. The internal back pain increases as well as the fatigue when i drink coffe or consume alcohol so i stop completly using both. I keep going to the doctor and everthing seems fine on the tests they perform. I cant never get a clear diagnosis or help with my sickness. I know for a fact that it has to do with my kidneys but I dont know exactly what doctor or especialist to go especially after I went to a nephrologist a while back and was told everything was ok. Please HELP!

Hi,
You don't get pain with CKD and as you have had tests done that have come back ok that rules out infection. You say you know for a fact it is your kidneys, how do you know for a fact it is this if you have been to a neph and they have told you they are fine? When you had blood tests what was your GFR (kidney function) what was your creatinine, potassium, phosphate etc? You also don't get symptoms with CKD until the very later stages and the symptoms you are having are not consistent with ESRF (end stage renal failure) what is your blood pressure like? you could try lowering your salt intake that can cause fluid retention.

If your GFR is OK, it is unlikely that there is anything wrong with your kidneys as GFR measures how well your kidneys are functioning. You don't say what happened when you visited tthe nephrologist- did they do an ultrasound scan of your kidneys for example. It seems likely that your symptoms are due to something else and this needs investigation. Go back to your GPand let him know how worried you are. You could perhaps keep a daily record of your symptoms and show him/her this and ask for further help. Good luck with this!

did you resolve your issue? I have similar symptoms for 3 years now and my life is on hold. I am exhausted all the time, no amount of sleep refreshes me. My eyes are swollen and puffy every morning, I have pain in my left side front and back. My left cheek twitches and I have pain in my left eye. im at my wits end. I look awful and cannot stand looking in the mirror. I hope you found a resolution. HNY ...
