Bad Ongoing ear Problem

For the past number of years ive had a problem in my left ear, whenever listening to music or in a pub/nightclub it feels like tv static in my ear, it becomes a major problem and then feels as if my ear is closing over and can hardly hear for a brief second. It also happens if people are talking into my ear or even whispearing. Listening to the radio in the car or any noise sets it off, its worsened by singing and even yawning. It flares up sometimes but it continually happening. I have been to see an ENT specialist and he stated it was just glue ear. I have had several operations on ear for inserting grommets. I am a 22 year old male in good physical and mental health and the problem is affecting my life in a number of ways.

I would get a second ENT opinion by an ENT that specifically works with eustachian tube dysfunction/otitis media/glue ear. Do you hear what sounds like whitenoise? I am wondering if it is tinnitus which can sometimes ring, sound like your hearing goes then comes back again. It may be the stapedial muscle tensing - which occurs when you yawn or hear loud sound, but not sure why it would happen when people whisper in your ear. When the stapedial muscle contracts, it dulls the volume of the sound you are listening to so that the cochlear is not damaged by loud noises. I would be interested to see what another ENT says. Good luck!!

Thanks for the reply, i am in the process of being referred, it mightnt happen for hours then the tv or radio might set it off and it goes on for ages, its hard to descibe the noise, like someone blowing in your ear or radio/tv static which gets worse the louder or closer the music. In places with loud music, such as a nightclub, (im currently in university) it will start and it gets really bad and then feels like my ear has closed over, have went off going to nightclubs as it can become unbearable in my ear!
