I get the butterfly feeling almost every night when I lay down to get to sleep. I can sometimes feel it in my chest.

Let it pass on it's own. It won't last more than a day or two. Try some Vitamin D3 and some mint tea.

Charlotte, how long have you been on hrt? I imagine that hrt should make things better not worse, depending on how long you've been taking it.

Yes, I recall that feeling. But it won't last long maybe a day or two. Nothing took it away. But I would take Vitamin D3, and drink mint tea and eat peppermint candy, but I think the D3 helped.

charlotte, I tried hrt for a total of three days, the anxiety on it was dreadful and low mood, so I stopped, and the feelings faded.  I myself think that the oestrogen was too much, I am still in peri and usually we have high oestrogen and low progesterone during this, so adding oestrogen did not work for me.  High anxiety and shakes - oestrogen causes this.  I havent tried hrt since,

I, too couldn't handle the hrt, I went off of it after 1 week. So they put me on birth control pills which have more progesterone than oestrogen and that worked for me.

yes.... been trying to tell doctors that, but you know what they're like.. whatever is written in the book!   how are you on birth control, any symptoms?  What were you like on hrt?  Going to take it again to my doctor as I know I need progesterone during this time, probably oestrogen later when in meno itself.

The birth control pills were great, no symptoms of any kind! I don't recall which hrt, but whatever it was it didn't work for me. The downside of bc pills weight gain but it was worth taking it over having the symptoms.

With hrt I had horrible symptoms, hot flushes,  mood swings, and everything else.

well they tell us to stick it out for 3 months, the hrt, but when its making you feel that bad, why would you stick it out.   just one last thing, are you still taking bc

If at first you don't succeed, try try again.....Metamorphed, I am trying to say please talk to your doc about trying a different hrt regimen to help you. There are so many different ways/doses of taking hrt now, the first regimen you try may not suit, I'm surprised your doc didn't suggest another method/type rather than just leave you suffering. I say to alot of ladies in our group - ask your doc surgery if they have a specialist meno/wellwoman doctor or nurse & get an appointment with them. my gp is a specialist in meno/gynae & she was sooooooooo helpful & knowledgable when I went into peri phase & helped me decide with her about the chosen hrt regimen I was put on. I was lucky - the first regimen she put me on helped me tremendously especially the mental symptoms & headaches which were the worst symptoms. I am on oestrogel nightly(lowest dose of 1 pump) & utrogestan capusles days 15-26 of every 28day cycle. I hope this info helps hun. xxx

thanks looloo.   would you believe I just asked for those two types, the oestrogel and the progesterone capsules having read other ladies success with it on here over the months.   and doctor had not heard of them and didnt know what dosage.  so now, I am going to a clinic this week because I believe myself that I need progesterone mostly and a little oestrogen but will be tested properly (fingers crossed).  What is the dosage of progesterone capsules that you are on?

They are 100mg capsules, I am prescribed 2 capsules nightly days 15-26 of every 28day cycle. i still have uterus, so was told if i take oestrogen i have to take progesterone too to "oppose" the oestrogen. just shows you how uninformed some docs are about peri/meno/hrt. what kind of clinic are you going to - is it a well woman clinic?
