Posted , 2 users are following.

So not sure if anyone has this . I have hashimoto and I have a goitre on the lower right side as well as just a swollen thryiod

. Some days it feels less swollen, and some days it's like today it's so bad that it hurts to swallow. And feels like big ball and pressure all the time . Does anyone feel like this ? I have to still wait another week or so for my bio opsey to come back before I can even get in to see my ent . And feels like the back of my throat throbs with pain

Please help any advice is a comfort

    Hi Stephanie,

You have my sympathy as I have just had the second half of my thyroid out due to cancerand am now finding it hard to swallow and coughing non stop. All I can suggest is that you ring or go and see your Gp and ask them to try and get your biopsy result qucker. Also ask your doctor what you should be doing to help yourself. I find very little advice on diet, supplements etc. At the moment I am losing weight because it is so hard to get anything down and talking for any time reduces my voice to a whisper.

Not much help, but I am thinking of you and wishing you well

I am so sorry to hear that as well Jenny, why did they not talk out the whole thryiod ?

Because I have hashimoto I guess it makes sense for them to want to take it all out as at some point my body will just attack the other half.

So this is your second surgery ? What is the pain/ healing proces like after the surgery I am also worried about that , although not having a huge lump in my throat will be nice , to be honest my gp is not great, but I have to the hospital more then once and for the most part I don't think there is much to do till they remove it . It presses on my air way and my esophagus so that what make it hurt but then just some days it feels harder and bigger and more in the way then other days and I did not know if it moves or grows . I wish you all the luck and I am sending good vibes your way. I am reading this book even though you don't have hashimoto it's a great book to teach you supplements and foods it's called hashimoto and the root cause of it You should get it . Or I keep my mind busy with knitting lol lol

      hi Stephanie,

The reason they didn't take the whole thyroid out was because it was a lump and they didn't know what it was. When it was found to be a papilloma the rest had to come out as well!

The ops are a piece of cake, very little pain afterwards, a bit of a sore throat, but in for  only three nights the first one and two the second. Had drips and a drain, but the drips come out once you are functioning, about the next day and the drain in your neck before you come home.  No need to fear those at all, far less ainful than any other ops I've had!

The worst bit was the feeling of utter exhaustion after each op and now the cough.

I am going to St George's, Tooting to see what they found in the other half tomorrow and just now got an appointment for next week for the Marsden hospital at Sutton. That blew me away as they are so specialised. I have been told I will have radioactive iodine to mop up any escapee cancer cells, but feel my life is about to change radically. Certainly can't sing at all and that was my escape. However at 82 I can't complain and I do hope you get sorted out asap.Let me know if you can.

      Jenny
