Chronic appendicitis or what?

This is quite a saga but I'm getting to the point where the pain is really making me grouchy and unable to concentrate.

About 2 months ago, I had severe pain in my right side, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, rebound pain, etc. after a day or two I went to my PCP  and she sent me straight to the ER.  The ER did a ct scan and an ulatrs sound and blood work. They said everything was cool and sent me home with Percocet.  A week later and I'm back with my PCP because I cannot tolerate eating anything and I feel so awful.  She refers me to a GI.  The GI orders a h pylori, an endocopy and a colonoscopy and another ultra sound.   All come back ok. They then order a Hida scan which was awful and I threw up,like crazy from. It came back at 97% so fine.  The GI then says you can cut it out anyways if you want .....I did not want to just start cutting organs out so I did not go see the surgeon. By this point, I've lost 15 lbs and am utterly miserable.

i instead go to see an osteopath who works on me and after a day I can eat again, hooray! He says he suspects appendix since that's where I have most of the pain and he says the red flag is my lowest rib back pain.  all the pain centralizes in it's original location ( lower right quad) and I'm hurting so bad by day 2 I have to stay in bed all day.  Second appt comes along and it is insane painful. I cry. He says it's like pushing on a brick wall but after .5 hour he 'breaks through'.  Driving home I got terrible chills and by the time I'm home I have a fever of 100.  All day today I've stayed at 100 and just feel awful again, the pain is pretty intense as well.

My big big worry is of course that somehow it IS my appendix but I keep being like, well if I get a high fever then I'll worry and that just never happens.....

Rosesk, I had my appendix removed 5 days ago and am in recovery mode. My fever went from 99 to 100.1.  You do not get a high fever with appendicitis. It is the other symptoms in combination that suggest it.  The fever at minimal says you're fighting an infection.

Do not wait for more symptoms. When the blood test results came back I was double the high end of normal range for white blood cell count.

Dr.s had to lower my infection before operating, as well as lowering the fever (took 19 hours).  In the meantime, I'm in pain and risking the appendix to rupture.

Everyone's symptoms are different. As my Dr said, this is life threatening.  Do not wait.

      Hi there,

Well, i called my PCP and they said they didn't know what to tell me. I went to my osteopath and he was very worried. Said i was bloated, swollen, inflamed and hot to the touch. Sent me back to the ER. The ER did another CT scan and said i was fine adn reccomended probiotics and sent me home.

Today I have fever again while on percocet and an antibiotic that the osteopath gave me..... I am pretty frustrated....

I am sorry to hear that you are going through all this incompetence.  If you have a fever you must be fighting an infection.  Is your white blood count higher than normal?  It can be frustrating but don't give up seeking professional help.  Someone will figure out what the issue is.

Here's my story:I was at a sporting event (watching), when all of the sudden, I felt like 5 people were stabbing me, I couldn't sit, stand or lay to find any comfort. I called my mom to come pick me up (I am 15 and do not have my license yet). I got into the car and started screaming. I didn't know what was happening, but there was a sharp pain in the center of my abdomen. My mom wanted to take me to the ER right then, but I told her I wanted to wait and see if the pain went away. It didn't leave, but it did move it's way over to the right side of my abdomen, and I kept feeling extremely nauseous. A day later at 4 in the morning, I finally let my mom take me to the ER. The first ER doctor told me I had "textbook appendicitis" and all we would need was a CT scan and the surgeons would take it out as soon as possible. They gave me a CT and they saw a small appenicolith and enlarged lymph nodes, but... they decided to wait until the next morning to make the ultimate decision and run a few tests to see if things got worse. So, they admitted me into the hospital, and I stayed the night. The next morning, they didn't see anything strange in my labs, so they really had no reason to take it out. No fever, no weird blood cell counts, and they honestly didn't know what to do with me. So, again, they had me spend the night. The next morning, I was feeling a little better, and they told me that it could be a number of things; ovarian cyst, mesenteric adnitis, and a few other things. They said that if it was mesenteric adnitis, that it would go away in less than 2 weeks. That day they sent me home. The day after that, I had the same sharp pain in my lower right abdomen, and since then, it hasn't gone away. I would go to appointments with my pediatrician and she would ask if things had gotten better, and each time, my answer was no. Every morning, I wake up sick and lean over the toilet and gag for around 15 minutes, and I'm always in pain, but some days it's a lot worse than others, and around 4 times a week, I will have a massive amount of pain for a few hours straight, then it dies down. A few weeks ago I had my first appointment with a GI specialist where he told me that he wanted another CT scan, and brought up a few things he thought it could be (mesenteric adnitis being one of them). I then was confused, saying that the doctors in the ER had told us mesenteric adnitis would last 2 weeks at most, and it has been A LOT longer than 2 weeks. He then told me he has seen it last up to a year and a half, and that it was a possibility that I had it. A day or so after that appointment, I was having really bad extreme pain, and I thought it would die down in an hour or so, but it didn't. It had been 2 days of the extreme pain with no relief, when I told my mom I needed to go to the ER. I went. They preformed another CT scan, and this time found nothing wrong with the appendix, but still enlarged lymph nodes. It's been a few weeks since the ER visit, and since then I have taken a serious turn for the worse. I also had a colonoscopy (that I should be getting the results back any day from). My doctor who did it, said that he didn't think he saw anything, but he sent it in to the labs to get it looked at. If nothing is found in the scope, they told me I would be diagnosed with mesenteric adnitis. I don't know what to do, I can barley function at school and haven't been able to go to a full day in 2 weeks.

That was a few months ago. I ended up being diagnosed with mesenteric adenidis. My mother, however, insisted that it couldnt be mesenteric adenitis and got my appendix taken out. They tested my appendix after the surgery and it tested positive for apendisidis. I never had a fever in all of the 3 months. So, I was mis diagnosed and i thank god for my stubborn mother smile

    Best of luck
