The visit to the ENT shouldn't be too bad. If they use a scope to see your sinuses they will numb your nose first and it's weird, but not painful. Maybe you will get a CT scan which will show what's going on in all the sinus cavities. There are 8 of them I think. I had surgery 2 years ago and may need another because of another stubborn infection and lots of inflammation and head pain.I'm not at all happy to have to do that again.  It was somewhat painful afterwards, but not unbearable. I took 2 weeks off from work, mostly because I was so tired, I couldn't stay awake all day. It's a sort of disgusting surgery, and I was very busy afterwards with rinsing and medicating. Good luck!!

    Hi

Try not to focus too much on other people's experiences which may and more than likely be different to yours. I have Chronic Rhinitis and been through all the medicines you mentioned. My experience was a positive one after my CT scan I was diagnosed with a deviated septum which I was offered an operation to open the nasal passage. The operation is done on a day case and I had mine on NHS. I went in,had the operation and when I woke up I had a sling bandage under the nose to catch any bloody mucus (not much though). I won't lie there is some discomfort, but you are given pain killers which I took for first two days.I too was unable to sleep and had to sit up straight at night usually grabbed what rest I could during the night (not much though) I was affected bad enough to be off work for 3 months mainly due to tiredness and the job I had at the time. Now 12 months since my operation and I can honestly say that within a few days of the operation I was able to breathe and started sleeping again (yahoo). I still have Rhinitis and been told I had to change my environment as i worked in the field and my job and environment impacted on the condition.I have now changed my job but still have to manage he Rhinitis with sprays etc my life has improved dramatically .

I wish you well and Regards

Thank you Pete...and I agree with what you said about experiences differing from person to person....can I just ask what is difference between Chronic Rhinitis and chronic sinusitis...all sounds quite disgusting no matter what needs doing...but sounds worth it from your point of view...delighted to hear your life has improved for you as that is what I long for...just to be able to breathe, taste and smell to the max ...thank u
