i had that lens imlpnanted two days ago

was able to see post surgery and then it went blurry

drs say it's the swelling because they removed a previously inserted lens and replaced it with the comfort lens .

They second lens was inserted and they found a rip in it so they immediately removed and replaced it with backup

anybody else used this lens and any positive feedback would be appreany

so it's been two days and I see only shadows

I was able to see after the surgery for half hours then blurry

anybody else experienced this

the literature and MD's say it the swelling from all the exchanges that had to be done

it should clear up

i can see things but so blurry scared to walk

my right eye still has a cataract very scary

It sounds like the trouble you are having has nothing to do with the particular lens you got and likely would be happening with any IOL.

Your description is a little ambiguous. You say  "The second lens was inserted and they found a rip in it". Was that a typing mistake, did you mean "the first lens was inserted",  or was   this a 2nd surgery to replace an IOL you previously had put in?

You say they found a rip in the "second lens", which I'm guessing might really have been the "first lens", (I assume that  was a Comfort lens)  and replaced it with a backup, but was the backup definitely also  a Comfort toric lens?

I don't know if they often have a backup of the same lens.  Often they keep a monofocal backup in case the capsular bag tears and they need to insert a lens outside the capsular bag, where they can't place the same kind of IOL they use in the capsular bag where most IOLs are placed.

I had a lens put in on dec 7 2016

this was the first lens was a mono regular lens that they give for free in Canada made by chroma model s1 but they got the depth wrong and I couldn't see very well without distortion

It diddnt get better so it needed to be replaced

when I originally went for cataract surgery I told them I didnt want to wear glasses

the surgeon then consulted another eye specialist because the first lens was not right and they knew I was not happy

i could see close up but not much further

so on feb 16 the second surgeon

was to remove the lens sz -1optic 6.00

power+20.50 by chroma was replace it with the coculentis lens

they got the original one out then put the coculentis one in

plusplus light pain at the time and the doc said it was ripped

      so he took it out

and said he had a backup

i don't know why they had a backup but he said hedid

the card I have says it a coculentis Los 313 MF15T2

summary in one sitting they took out the first lens which was the wrong depth  put in the second lens that was rippedand then replaced it with the third lens in my eye

surgeon is hoping it's just swelling and not caused by them scratching or ruining my cornea

i was told it was a distance lens with a Toric for the astigmation

its been 6 days and it's still blurry

      hope this clears it up

That explains the situation more clearly, thanks, it just was a bit puzzling the way it was phrased without the extra information. Usually most people who get lens exchanges go from a multifocal to a monofocal, so going *to* a multifocal is unusual (and having a backup premium lens seemed surprising, I don't know if its typical, I just assumed since he had it shiped from the manufacturer that my surgeon only got 1 of the lens model I needed). Unfortunately at the moment the extra information doesn't lead to any better suggestions for you.

It seems likely that most of the issue is due to the eye still healing from the trauma of the surgery.   Unfortunately also however a decent % of people who get a toric lens of any sort have some residual astigmatism after surgery which can cause blur at any distance. A study I saw referenced  suggested perhaps 29% of people have > 0.5D of astigmatism that would need to be corrected, especially with a multifocal lens it can cause issues. A toric lens needs to be correctly oriented at the right angle, if it isn't positioned quite right during surgery or  rotates a bit after surgery before it heals in place,  it can sometimes be rotated back into place.

Other times they correct the residual astigmatism with either an incision (blade or laser) or LASIK/PRK or some other laser method. They may wait for the vision to stabilize before making a permanent correction like that, so glasses/contacts might be needed until then.  The incisions used for surgery can also cause astigmatism (and to remove the old IOL they may have used larger incisions than they did for the initial surgery, it depends on how easy the old IOL was to break apart, but especially in this case when they had to remove 2 IOLs before putting in the final one), though usually they try to plan for that but it isn't perfectly predictable. Your eye can take  a  bit of time to heal from that and the astgimatism stabilize (though I'm unsure how long).

The other source of blur might be that after surgery the lens can move forward or backward a bit until it heals in place, which changes its effective lens power. Though that difference would be minor, and it'd likely leave you with good vision at at least some distance since it just makes you more or less myopic or hyperopic (and unlikely farsighted enough to be blurry at all distances). However its another possible factor. If the lens power is off, that is another thing they can can correct laser via LASIK/PRK, etc.

      Thanks for the explanation

im also being optimistic that it's only swelling

they did have to manipulate when removing the original lens

the eye was clear post op,

dr, checked the position and it was where he put it

he has been very straight forward about what happened

thank god my other eye has 20/30 vision and the cataract isn't as bad as the left one was

so I can see with the right eye

and they are not touching it until this is better

again thank u for your excellent answer
