Worried about a brain tumour

Posted , 15 users are following.

ive had headaches for about 4 weeks.  The optician did a full test and couldn't see anything and when I went to see my GP she did a full neuro test and said everything was ok.  I think she is only doing an MRI to reassure me, but I hav not been reassured and still think I have a tumour.  Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Mary,

I know it's easy to say, but please try not worry, as this adds to the stress and won't help your headaches. I know exactly what your going through. I've had chronic headaches & migraines since a teenager and I'm now in my 50's. You do worry, it's natural. The amount of tests & MRI scans I've had, I've lost count. But yes you always have that doubt in your mind thinking they must have missed something. Just keep thinking Mary, these specialists are good at what they do and are there to support & reassure you. Take care

I have been struggling with constant headache too. Do you have any other problems? Do you feel incredibly lathargic and fuzzy? I do. I have been going to my doctor and getting blood tests done but have found nothing so far. Eating an organic paleo diet has been helping slowly. I have looked into adrenal failure leading to hormonal problems leading to candida but I have been eating so healthy(cutting out foods like sugar and carbs can get rid of candida) and I still feek this way. I do pottery and wonder if it's some kind of virus or creature that grew in the reclaim clay. Can you explain your lifestyle if you are comfortable with it? Diet, occupation, stress level, hobbies, sleep cycle, etc...

Thanks for the reply.  I am a mental health nurse but I don't think my job is stressful.  My diet could be better. I often miss breakfast.  My home life can be stressful I have got 8 grand children an one has ADHD.  I suffer from health anxiety so any illness stresses me.  I am worried because my headaches started suddenly.  Of course I think it's a brain tumour.  My sleep pattern is dreadful, if I don't take amitriptyline I sometimes only get 3 hours.  The doctor has tried to reassure me and gave me a neuro test.  I also had a full eye test complete with camera

I read recently that MRIs are rarely given due to headaches because there is almost never any brain issues that accompany a headache. I doubt you have a brain tumor unless your behavior is changing but I am not a doctor so don't listen to me. If you are really concerned, talk to your dr. I am only 26 and am not worried about brain tumors. I never had issues with headaches in my life until about 9 months ago I just started having this constant headache. I have been working with my doctor and will let you know if I find anything out. Do you feel out of it at all? I feel that my headaches make me feel really tired and irritable.

I get tired.  I think she only suggested an MRI for reassurance.  I also feel out of it at times

I was put on codeine but couldn't tolerate it.  Never had headaches and couldn't understand how they could start all of a sudden

Yea, mine started out of the blue too. I never had problems with headaches ever before. I also get terrible pms and don't feel like myself. Oddly enough my friend has the same symptoms as me- feing lethargic, foggy, flat, irritable. She thinks we have a hormone imbalance which I'm sure we do but I want to know the cause. She got a few blood tests and it showed an elevated white blood cell count so that would signify infection. We both met in a pottery class and I'm wondering if there was some kind of bacteria or viruse living in the clay that caus

(Continued) ...ed all of this. I feel the headache in the front and top part of my head too. A funny thing is my friend is not experiencing headaches but everything else she explains sounds like what I have. Look up thyroid issues and see what you think. I feel that bloodwork is the way to find out what's going on with us. Do you or did you recently have a really tight jaw?

Been to the docs today and he says its all down to tension.  I asked if it was a tumour and he said I didn't have the symptoms.  Hope you feel better soon

What symptoms did you have and what are the symptoms of a tumour?

My doctor mentioned auto immune... it seems so confusing to me. I will have to look into it more. I would say for now my plan of action is resting, sleeping enough, eating really healthy and keeping myself happy, I think those all are a good first step.

What I would do for a start is try to get your sleep back on track if you can. I would try to wake up when the sun comes up and go to sleep when the sun goes down. Eat a paleo diet and don't eat right before bed. Try not to skip meals. Im going to try this next and I feel that it will help me. I know I have adrenal burnout from going going going and never stopping and being stressed. I think getting my sleep back on schedule will help my adrenals. I will ask my DR about autoimmune.

What you say sounds positive.   I will give it a go, especially the sleep pattern.  I know lack of sleep can cause health problems
