Is there a criteria to meet to qualify for the linx procedure?

I am finding it difficult to get the NHS to agree to carrying out the linx procedure to relief my symptoms for a hiatus hernia.

I don't know which country you are in. I am in Australia. Not aware of what the NHS is and I don't know what the linx procedure is, can you please let us know. i have postings on here about Hiatus hernias and Irritable bowel syndrome. There is a lot of wrong diagnosid about Hiatus hernias being the cause and unfortunayely therefore the ops for ssme are not a grst success. IBS is caused by intolerance to certain foods and one has to findthe right person to be able to guide you through a program for deductions of foods until they get it sorted. i am on a wheat free, dsiry free sugar free. No fruit or fruit juices because of the natural sugars in these. There id fructans, fructose lactose and it goes on. It had a habit of being hereditory and runs in families. i have 3 children and they all follow my symptoms. Have been told that IBS can cause heart attacks/ strokes and ruptured bowel if not sorted out. Hope you find some relief. When this goes on long enough it takes all ones energy because the oxygen levels drop. i am goinbg into hospital again next week to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy to check my system. I really don't have much quality of life.

      Hi Wanda

I'm in the UK. I can only relate what I've been diagnosed with. The opening at the top of my stomach does not close resulting in reflux. I currently try to control the amount of acid in my stomach using medication. This however does not completely stop the reflux and sleeping is the worst element of day to day living as this has to be in an almost sitting position for me.

A linx is like a string of magnetic pearls that can be threaded around the opening of the stomach and will open and shut when swallowing food and drink. The results have been positive for sufferers with hiatus or sliding hiatus hernias and other Gerd conditions.

On a bad day I can have spasms which feel like a chest cramps and then I use an inhibitor beneath the tongue to relieve the pain.

The specialists in the uk will decide whether a patient can be a candidate for the treatment hence the question as to whether there is a criteria for selection/approval.

      Hi Wanda

I do hope that the tests you are due to have will result in questions being answered especially as your children are also experiencing similar symptoms.

Have you also gone down the allergy testing route if not try this also.

Thank you guys for all your support. I have been to my specialist and have redone my tests and I am now on the waiting list.

I will take my chances with the op as the daily unpredictable symptoms of the present is not an option. Having no quality of life is no life. I'll keep you posted.
