Hi! I will undergo colonoscopy next week. The doctor request for a series of test: cbc, ecg and chest xray. All came back normal except for chest xray that says: pleural thickening. I'm so scared about my colonoscopy and this chest xray result add up to my anxiety. Wish me luck guys!

    Good luck!

The colonoscopies aren't as bad as you think they will be! It's more scary the thought of what's happening. Aslong as you're relaxed (I know that's easier said than done when you have a 10ft camera in you haha) but there are pain relief things there and take whatever they'll give you. smile

    Hope you're okay! smile x

I've had 5 colonoscopies so far! CT scan, the radiation X-ray and many many blood and stool tests! No dignity left :p

Yay.. do you have a diagnosis already? I already had series of blood test but always came back normal. So this is realy my last resort. I've been avoiding this procedure for too long. But have i have no choice now..

They're just diagnosing me with IBS-D which is not what I have because I am passing blood and constantly in pain even when I'm not eating so having to go elsewhere as they aren't wanting to do any more investigations as my biopsies came back normal. rolleyes

They're really not that bad. It's more of something being put up your bum that's scary haha but don't worry the doctors will be really lovely. It is painful won't lie, but you can have gas and air or sedation. You also will get to wear "dignity shorts" to cover yourself up.

Hope all goes well! Let us know how it goes smile

      Hi

Sometimes after constipation you can get hemrrhoids and this could cause bleeding. If your cbc test was normal then you are not bleeding internally. It is good you are going for a colonoscopy. It could be many things such as IBS colitis crohns which are all treatable or it could be nothing. Have you had a stool test done?

I am being checked for parasites now? I have similar symptoms.

I also had stool exam for parasite and occult (this was before i saw blood in my stool the other day) and it also came back okay. The doctor says we perform the colonoscopy so she can label me with IBS. Since my symtomps now are alternating diarrhea and constipation.

I saw a professor yesterday who specialists in gastro problems for over 30 years and he has told me there are 2 problems with the overall gut one is IBS the other is functional dyspepsia which effects the top of the stomach and the gullet. He explained that all blood tests dont show up this condition and the inflammation doesnt show up on an endoscopy or colonscopy so just bare in mind if all tests come back clear you want to ask if it could be functional dyspepsia
