Skin Rash in middle of back, knees, arms and torso

I have been treated and have seen two spescislist for dermatology, contact dermatitis without any success. Ideas ?

The rash started in the middle of my lower back as a red itchy spot that has now grown to a diameter of 3-4" it is now seeping and very itchy. There are also areas on my arms and legs knees and feet Prednisone will knock it down but after prescription ends it comes back

    Check out topical steroid withdrawal on the internet and see if your symptoms match. I wouldn't take any more prednisone, I took that last year and my eczema got worse too. I stopped all steroids and one year later I am lucky to say my eczema is a lot better. Worse was over after 3-4 months. Dermatologist advised strongly against my course of action but I stuck with it. Good luck

    Have your specialists been able to diagnose your ailment and give it a name or are they just considering this as contact dermatitis/allergy of unknown origin? Have they also tested your skin for fungal or bacterial infection? Often, when the problem comes back, some sort of infection may be responsible, unless you are continuously in contact with an allergen that you must then discover and remove from your environment. If you are not dealing with an ordinary allergy, many strains of tough-to-beat Staphylococcus Aureus can colonize your body by forming biofilms on the skin surface. They can emit Delta Toxin into your mast cells, which in turn causes them to degranulate and release a lot of histamine.

      There used a Patch Test. I showed a slight allergic reaction to carbons or things with rubber or latex

      I have tried differents soaps as well and then switched back, no change.

      I was going try UV tanning only for short times.

      If you are suffering from eczema and not just contact dermatitis, UV and salt water baths will usually provide relief. When I was still suffering from Eczema, being on tropical vacations with plenty of sun exposure and bathing in the ocean helped relieve my symptoms and reduce the area occupied by lesional skin. However, several weeks after the vacation, the eczema would come back, particularly during winter months.

      Ultimately, after 20 years of combat with the disease, trying various things, I cured myself completely by taking St. John's Wort Extract orally. i wrote a post about this in the Alternative and Complementary medicine forum, called "20 year case of Eczema cured with St. John's Wort".

      Besides St John's Wort being a rather well studied herb used to combat depression, its star-molecule called Hyperforin also has many beneficial properties to help the body combat bacterial infections, reduce inflammation and ultimately repair damaged skin. This whole process may take time however. You can read about it by typing "Topical applications of St. John's Wort Silae" in your search engine.

    I have eczema which will never go away, exacerbated by steroids which were meant to help not hinder it. Thx

    Avoid detergents? Odd though that it started on your lower back. Maybe use a cold pressed raw soap with a high concentration of honey on weeping skin (honey kills the bacteria that gets into broken skin very effectively) and don't put anything else anywhere on skin (eg use the raw soap as shampoo too).
