Doc says I can't drive

i am 30 years old, and for the last 5 years my visions as been getting worse and worse.  The doc used to be able to correct me to 20/20 but now I can only be corrected to 20/100.  I have been having a lot of trouble driving, running red lights, almost getting into accidents, having trouble focusing my eyes at work.  I notice it's much worse when it's bright out.  I have an astigmatism in both eyes and have for a while.  Recently, I went to the optometrist and she couldn't figure out why I can't see.  Now I have to go to a specialist.  Until they can figure out what's going on, I can't drive.  I am clueless as to what is going on, but otherwise I am healthy.  Every once in a while I get pain behind my eye, and sometimes I get headaches.  Last heeadache I had kept me out of work for 4 days.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I also am told I keep things way too close to my face when reading.

I'm sorry that you are not allowed to drive at the moment but that has to be better than killing yourself or anyone else on the road, doesn't it?

I hope it won't be too long before your appointment with an Ophthalmologist comes through.

Have you tried wearing specs with a tint, or photochromic  specs?  They may make your vision a little more comfortable.

I will be interested to hear how you get on &, good luck!

Went to the specialist today. He referred me to another specialist. He did mention that I have a gap in the center of my rod and cone layer in both eyes. He was reluctant to discuss it as he wasn't a retina specialist. After doing some research it doesn't look good. Looks like rod and cone dystrophy. I will find out for sure tomorrow.

Hello if you don't mind me asking what is your eyesight prescription like?
