I was recently treated for bacterial prostatitis, but after 10 days of ciprofloxacin the symptoms remain. Frequent urination, pain/discomfort in and around pelvic and groin, etc.
Dr. is s now sending me for a abdominal and pelvic ultrasound to see what might be causing the pain. I've read a lot about non-bacterial prostatitis and that it's very common in men under 50.
I didn't mention this to him prior to the ordering of the ultrasound, but it seems a likely culprit. Also, I would have expected my Dr. to perform a rectal exam of my prostate or ordered blood work before the ultrasound.
I had bacterial prostatitis back around six years ago, so I think he may have treated me based on my history. I don't mind going for the ultrasound, but I'd like to mention non-bacterial prostatitis as a possibility if the ultrasound results prove uneventful.
Curious if others have had similar experience?
Thanks.

I would recommend more tests systematically until you can rule everything out. If the cipro is not working that is odd so it may be something else.
