Someone please help me :(

I have had this globus sensation for 5 years now. It feels like a thick lump in my throat like a big wad of drainage that is constantly in my throat and makes it hard to get air in. I really want to talk to someone on here because I have no one to talk to about this. My family thinks that I'm crazy and get annoyed when I bring up the feeling in my throat since I have had tests done and they have found nothing. But my family doesn't understand that this is a real feeling and it's not just in my head, I want it to go away so bad! Can someone please talk with me and try to help me feel better? I feel like I want to die sometimes because I hate this feeling so much. Any comments would be much appreciated about things that have helped you guys. Thank you

Longer term globus if often linked to anxiety, as unlikely as it sounds,I can defo testif to it. Best advice I can give is get some therapy to get.to the root of the anxiety. You can't treat globus as there's nothing physically wrong, but u can treat the anxiety which will help it a lot

I, too, have had this sensation for over 5 years now.  At the risk of being premature, though, I think I've found the solution: acupuncture.  Go to an acupuncturist and tell them you have "mei he qi" (may-huh-tshee).  It's a Chinese word.  If they don't know what you mean, find a different acupuncturist because that one doesn't know much.

Long story short, I tried it and it is working.  It might take about a month, but it can be treated.  I have had this terrible sensation of stiffening muscles that don't allow me to make quick movements that has affected me alongside of it and it is slowly disappearing due to this treatment.  Nothing else has worked for 5 years and I'm finally noticing a difference.  I can't stand to see others suffer from this, so I'm telling you now before my treatment is even finished.  I never believed in this stuff until I tried it.  It works.

    Hi Angela,

I totally understand what you're going through right now. I wish i could give you a big hug. I too have this condition for 7 months now.

At first, it was around May of this year when i had several panic attacks due to Health Anxiety. I eventually developed Acid Reflux(GERD). My eating habits also had to do with it. I used to love eating spicy foods almost everyday. I would also eat during night times like an hour before i go to sleep which is not advicable if you have acid reflux.

So i went to see a doctor (ENT) due to chest tightness having hard time breathing. The doctor told me it was acid reflux. He put me on a 2 week course (Pantoprazole) to treat my reflux. My reflux was gone but one thing i didn't change was my diet. I kept eating spicy foods so after a week, my reflux came back and I could feel the acid even reaching my throat. Later i knew my Acid reflux turned out worse. I continued taking the meds without a doctors prescription. Around 3rd week of june, after playing basketball, i felt like there's something stuck in my throat like there's a golf ball in there. I panicked, thinking i may have throat cancer. All i had in mind was, "I got cancer".

So I set an appointment to see another doctor (ENT specialist). She checked my throat and performed laryngoscopy but found nothing. Her diagnosis was; GLOBUS Hystericus. I was so relieved.

She explained to me what causes globus and how it's being developed. In most cases; Stress, Acid Reflux/GERD/LPR and Anxiety.

Im with you in this journey of ours!

    Cheers!

Yes same thing has being disturbing me for 8yrs now...everything I did was to no avail.

Its so terrible, you cant express your thoughts, stick a plan...and above all socialise.

I cry so many times because of this, angela.

It shall end someday, because am determined to get rid of it. Despite being told no cure for it. Am on a coffee that does wonders, and since have being using it, feel relieved and relaxed.

      Hi ebliz,

Is your globus related to Acid Reflux (GERD) or Anxiety?

I suppose, in my situation acid reflux is the main factor since i have been experiencing heartburns most of the time especially after eating spicy, fatty and acidic foods. I stopped drinking coffee for almost a year now since it gave me heart palpitations and perhaps the main reason why i developed acid reflux.

I see, sometimes mine gets worse when i think about it and get panick attacks. Somehow it's related to Anxiety too. It's been almost a year now and the lump is still here. Sometimes i feel i wanna die but im fighting that feeling and just focus on the positive side. I can't imagineliving like this for the rest of my life. sad

It's mostly anxiety related issue. It all depends on the treatment, whatever works best to remove the source of the anxiety is the best way forward

I believe you have an acid reflux that causes globus and phglem stuck in your throat and also streeful, too. Try to avoid high acidity food and you'd not feel anything in yr throat and easy to breathe better.

If the globus is aggravated by anxiety, then realistically diet will make minimal difference. Better to spend energy on dealing with the anxiety
