Cyst in womb

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi can anyone help please . I went 9 days ago for a ultrasound after suffering pelvic pain. Went to see gp 5 days later. Was told had a large cystical mass in womb. Was told I would be referred as a potential cancer. Following day received a letter for gynaecologist. Bloods were taken for tumour markers in my body. Am seeing a gynaecologist in 5 days. Is this normal procedure for women with a large cyst as its all happening so fast. am I right to be worrying myself stupid that I've got cancer. My cyst is 12cm x 12cm x 8.5cm. I'm soo worried. I'm 37 years old.

Yeah been there too, it makes you panic when you get referred so quickly. Mine was larger than yours. Just as tempting as it is try not to google it makes you panic more. On the plus side everything is done really quickly for you. Try keep yourself busy they can't tell what it actually is until it is removed. Speak to your gyno about your worries ๐Ÿ˜‰

I can tell you I was a nervous wreck with worry. I first saw the doctor in April, had bloods and ultrasound within a couple of weeks. Then I had a CT scan, they then got me an emergency appointment for surgery. Within a month of initially seeing the doctor I'd had my surgery. You get results around two weeks after surgery. They had suspected it to be malignant but I can tell you thankfully it wasn't. Am now 7 months post surgery and doing well. Good luck to you, rosie is right stay positive xx

Thankyou I am a little less panicky now. Will keep you posted after Friday. Once again am pleased your well and all went ok for you. Anna xxxx

    Hello,

This is all normal procedure so try not to worry yourself. This happened to me, went for an ultra sound and they could see a lot of fluid in my stomach, they then had a specialist check the ultra sound images and they told me a had a large cyst in my ovary and as it was over 5cm, think they told me it was 15cm they have to test for ovarian cancer.

My ultrasound was too vague so I had a ct scan!

Cut a very long story short, there was. 36cm ovarian cyst and due to the agony I was it I had an emergency operation a week ago to remove this, they also removed my right ovary as there was much left of it!

So this is normal as I was rushed through fairly quickly with all the blood tests, ultrasound and ct scan! Try not to worry and think positive.

Hope everything gets sorted for you, take care xx

Hi thanks for your quick reply. I'm glad to hear this all seems normal procedure as I'm so worried it all seemed to be going so fast, especially when I knew I was having the bloody tests for tumour marking. That made me panic. I see the gynaecologist in 5 days on Friday so will know more then. I know I. Will probably have to have an op but got everything crossed that it's not cancerous. . Thankyou again. You take care too. Xx

Hello Rosie so glad to hear you are well๐Ÿ˜ŠI had a 2nd transvaginal scan Wednesday where the ovary and 3 cysts have stayed the same size since November.(hope this is a good thing ) !! She said I may have blocked Fallopian tube as well but I've read free fluid in pelvis can show the Fallopian tube up so I'm now worried as free fluid is a worry ?she couldn't find my other ovary as said too much fluid about, but in my report there is no mention of any free fluid only the left ovary cannot be identified.im scaring myself so much as I now think I have free fluid everywhere in left adenxa. could anyone reassure me on this please many thanks Michelle xx

That's ok I know what I was like at the beginning of all of this so hearing someone else who has gone through similar does help! But it is all normal and when they mentioned blood tests for ovarian cancer I did freak out but they were all fine.

I was the same preparing myself for an operation but i was in so much pain about a week ago that I just wanted the pain to stop.

I'm sure you will be fine! ๐Ÿ˜Š

      Hi Michelle,

Thank you hopefully I'm away from the worse of it.

It is a good thing that the cysts have stayed the same size, I think if they are a relativily small size they just monitor them and if they start to grow that's when they start to consider removing them.

With regards to the free fluid try not to worry or google it too much as this will freak you out even more. When I had my ultrasound there was a lot of fluid in my stomach that they couldn't see anything new else which worried me! What has your GP said is the next steps? I would ask for a ct or Mri scan so they can get a better picture of what is happening so this puts your mind at rest!!

Try not to worry too much, I know it's so hard not to but you just have to think positive and your doing the right thing by getting checked right away! Take care xxx

This has reassured me as they saw everything in my scan except ovary thank you ๐Ÿ˜ŠI've got a follow up with consultant feb 9th.the 3 complex cysts are all on one ovary the biggest one only being 20mm x 14 mm and they haven't grown since novembers scan so I'm hoping that is good.the cysts have thick walled irregular borders so not sure what that means with blood flow.

Sorry sent without finishing but Dr said if they haven't increased it is a better sign.it was the free fluid that worried me it was in the pouch going to the ovary.so so glad you're ok love Michelle xxx

Iam glad I've been able to reassure you alittle bit.

Well hopefully they will arrange a ct scan for you as my issue was fairly complex due to the size of the cyst as they first said it was a mass coming from my ovary and then I was told it was a very large cyst and they were trying to figure out the best course to get it sorted. In the end the cyst contained 16litres of fluid, and when I got home I weighed myself and lost 3 and a half stone which is probably why I was in so much pain.

It is definitely good that they haven't grown!

      Are you in any pain?

      Xx

Oh my god !!!! You must surely have been in severe pain and did your tummy distend it must have done blimey poor you !!! Did they tell you what was inside the cyst ? Or was it just fluid ? I wonder what created all the free fluid in your tummy too did you find out ? I am in no pain sometimes at ovulation i feel tender sore etc but always put it down to ovulation.and my periods have always been long and heavy with clots but has been for for over 30 years.i only went to Dr cos last October I had a 3 week bleed.i came on a week before I was due and it just continued for over 3 weeks so Dr thought fibroids so sent me for scan.which has now opened another can of worms in these bloody cysts on ovary !!!! My dr said they have probably been there years as well and to this day I wasn't even going to go to the Drs as thought it was peri menopause but thought best get it checked out.periods have been fine since that bleed maybe a couple of days earlier every month but regular.its so nice to be able to talk ro someone thank you so much Michelle xxx

Hi rosie. Wow yours was big. How did your operation go and how are you feeling now as you said it was only just over a week ago. This is definitely helping me to think more positive . It's the quickness of it all that has made me panic more and the blood tests , but reading people's experiences it is helping me not to automatically think the worst. I hope you are recovering well and resting plenty . Thankyou . Anna xxxx

Well to begin with I was fine just had mega bloating constantly, I looked heavily pregnant!! Was towards the end around mid Dec that I had shooting pains and burning pains at the top of my tummy near my rib cage. Was horrific! When the surgeon removed the cyst he said it didn't look too nasty but they have sent it off to get checked but I haven't received the report yet so we'll see!

I asked the surgeon who said cyst are just one of those things and they can grow like mine did or just stay the same. Sometimes small cyst burst and go away on their own. He reckons that mine was growing for a while!! And cyst are extremely common as I know a few of my friends that have had them, and only one have had to have surgery to remove them.

That's ok Im glad I can help in a little way as I know how scary it is!! Xx

      Hi Safe,

Yup was a fair size !! Operation went really well, I thought I was going home on the morning of my operation as the pain calmed down but they decided to operate so I was pretty scared but happened the best way as I didn't really have time to panic as I was going into theatre 30mins after being told. I went in at about 11.30 and was out by 2.30! I did have to have my right ovary removed as there was nothing left of it but I did prepare myself for this eventuality beforehand but I was just so happen to be out of the pain! I was in hospital for 2 days after the operation and have been resting up at home since. I'm doing ok just trying to take things really slow so I don't overdo it!

The best thing is to the stay positive. When this all happened I thought the worse and when they said they had to take bloods to test for ovarian cancer I freaked, but its all precaution and the fact is goes through quickly is a good thing and you'll find out what's happening sooner!! Also don't google anything as it won't help at all! Just take each day as it comes!! Hope you get everything sorted soon!! Take care xx
