Shoe Size

This may be a silly question but for those of you who have had union surgery on both feet, did your shoe size alter after your op?

For years I've was a size 5/5.5 (uk size) then after 2 pregnancies and my bunions getting progressively worse I have been a size 6 for quite a few years now. But it has occurred to me, mainly when my consultant pointed out that my feet weren't supposed to be as wide as they were, that my feet might be a different shoe size.

So has anyone else experienced a change?

Thanks for any feedback

Hello. I had op to both feet about four months ago. My size was like you 5 or 5.5, I always want for wide fitting. At 6 weeks I was allowed to go into normal shoes but they were so swollen not even men size 8 would fit. I found some size boots that fitted but are now too big. Currently I can wear memory foam Go Walk Skechers size 6 (39). I think once the swelling has fully subsided I will be in my normal size but more 5.5.

Hi there. I had both fmy feet done last year, 3 months apart. Like you I took size 6 previous to my operations but years before was a 5/5.5  I definately crept up a size to accomodate my wide feet!  I'm back wearing size 5's now, but for me it it has taken at least 6/7 months plus to get back to this size. I wore a couple of pairs of my old shoes once I was out of trainers (at 3 months) but as the swelling got less I gradually went down sizes. It's a bit of a waiting game but worth it for the lovely pain free straight feet plus new shoes...win win!!! Wish you samesmile
