Male fistula

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi I am a 44 year old male who has had a fistula operation and a seaton fitted two years ago and have had 4/5 operations since to treat this with not good results as I am still draining with lots of fluids sometimes which last for days I have been back to my surgeon who assured me it will heal....? They told me that they would see me again which was last year...I have not had any contact and feel disappointed once again it has started....what should I do...kind regards Marc.

Have you researched going to a different hospital. Was your original problem an abcess?  We have great experience of surgery at John Radcliffe Hosp Oxford, and they have an excellent GI dept. Some others have written on here about seton stitches, did you see those?

Hi many thanks for your concern, it did start with a abcess...I have had surgery in two different hospitals now with different doctors I didn't know about Seton stitches, wasn't told ... I have only had a Seton fitted many times. I am thinking of seeing a private consultant in London know as I am feeling neglected by my doctor/hospital.

      Thanks Marc.

      Marc,

From one who has gone round the world seeing specialists for different reasons.

I would go NHS St Marks Harrow for opinion.

If ur keen on private then check which hospital the consultant is at NHS.

There is no winning with either approach.

You may be led into unnecessary procedures and tests private.

      Or down right neglect NHS.

Some conditions are difficult to get right.

I have no experience with yours but wish you all the best.

      I'm still struggling.

Hi I agree St Marks or JR Ox as both world class for bowel & GI probs. Son went to Oxford for GI, UC and pouch surgery. Couldn't fault and the surgery was complex. Sandra was your prob GI?

       Good luck to all. Sheila.
