prombelms after colonoscopy

Dear all plz help me with some advice, i had colonoscopy unfortunetly with my 35 yrs, doctor told me that everything is normal and day after colonoscopy i feelt bloatd and adbomen pain i went to ER and they told me that everything is normal after 3 weeks i went again to ER and they told me that everything is normal but im felling bloadted again and ike i am fullfiled with air or soomething anf i have bowel tension it is so strange felling iike my bowel is messed up like nothing is normal like before i cant work and i am so uhappy i spent 1000 $ for private doctors and still no anwsers ?

so my symptoms are

felling bloated

pain through all colon path after meal

constant pain and pressure at lower abdomen

feeling strange feelings and abdomal tensions.

so i am feeling like trapted in hell dnt know what do to coz no one can help me .. plz someone if have any clue what is happening to me.

    I feel that you must immediately contact the doctor who did your cononoscopy. The instruction sheets that a patient receives upon leaving, always have a number to call if you experience a number of negative effects. You need to call that number and explain that you are still having problems.

      Dear Joel thnx for fast response u c the main problem is that i called doctor and he told me that my symproms are not hes problem any more and that i need to call ER witch i did , after that i spent so much mony on every colonoscopy doctror specalist and they all looked me like i am not normal since blood test and x-rays where fine u c, that is y i am felling trapted in hell coz doctors dont have any clue what is happening to me 2 months after procedure.

    What was the initial reason you went for your colonoscopy? Were at least some of these symptoms present before, or have all started since the procedure. With the bloating, and pain after eating, it sounds to me as though it could be food-related. Or are you on any new medication? Also, did they take biopsies during colonoscopy? And did you have coeliac serology tests for coeliac disease? It is very common and results in symptoms like yours and requires a gluten-free diet.

      Dear Dea thnx 4 quick response, your question is very good so i went to colonscopy coz u was positive on hemo ocult test my er doctor conviced me that is from hemoroids but u was afraid of tumor so stupid coz everything was normal and after colonoscopy witch was very painfull doctor told me that everything is fine clear and health colon now the irony starts 2 hours after coloniscopy i started to bloating and now i have all wierd symptoms like presure at lower abdomen , presure on sigmiod colon and ascending colon ( just guessing ) and strange hard feeling on transverse colon belly side.i have a felling like i hva a ball of air in my belly... so i never ever had this symptoms before coloniscopy sad(

      I really feel bad for you. Funnily enough, I too have had altered bowel habit and a little pain ever since my first colonoscopy, and that was back in January, and I didn't have those symptoms before. I just wonder if there is perhaps a little scraping that takes place during the procedure, or perhaps the bowel prep may create an imbalance in the natural flora (good bacteria) in the colon. (That is my guess, anyway). They did mention I had a touch of diverticulosis (tiny pockets in the gut that can become inflamed) but it seems strange that would only flare up *after* the colonoscopy, but never before. I'm not sure which country you are in, but in NZ we have a public system (free) which we can continue to investigate things through. I hate to think you have to keep paying for investigation. Try to get that coeliac serology done if you haven't already. And good luck!!!!

      Yes it might be food related. My eating habits have changed a little since my surgery and I'm learning what to avoid etc. I've had only one colonoscopy as a follow up check but that didn't seem to affect me. (It was all clear.) Yes Bea, I've found the health system here in NZ excellent. I've had regular tests and appointments, all at no cost. Best wishes S4SH4NN!

      Ooo, may I ask what surgery, John? GI-related?

    Um, it was bowel cancer so I don't think it was GI related? But I have noticed that I don't eat quite the same foods as I did before. I do have indigestion at times and my b m's are different, probably because of a shorter colon. I'm seeing my consultant soon, (every 6 months now) and will go with a list of questions. But all seems ok so far - the surgery was two years, six months and eight days ago. And seven hours to be precise! All very scary and sudden, (emergency stuff...)

      Wow wow wow! That's intense! Sounds like you have been/are in good hands, surveillance-wise. I'm so pleased your cancer was found and treated swiftly. Must have been very overwhelming at the time. My colonoscopy was just to investigate low-iron, but two pre-cancerous polyps were found (and removed) incidentally, and waiting for the histology results for those was a horrid time. All turned out fine, thankfully, but I'll need regular surveillance, lifelong, now too. Gastroenterologist told me if my GP hadn't referred me and the polyps had been left, they almost certainly would have progressed into something very nasty. Thank goodness for modern medicine!

      Glad you're ok. Yes, waiting is a pain, but they told me the colonoscopy was squeaky clean as soon as I was off the table, heading for the ham sandwiches. The wait for the follow up CT scan was only a day, I was resigned to about 10 days! I rang up my Dr to tell them it was done and could they let me know when they found out the result. 'It's here!' All good too. You do get looked after here once you're in 'the system.' Which part of NZ do you live, if you don't mind my asking?

      Wow, that's great to hear. I'm in Auckland - I was on the wait list for North Shore DHB for my colonoscopy, but because it would have been quite a wait, I was referred to private so had a free colonoscopy at the Macmurray Centre in Remuera - they really are excellent there. I'm actually a medical typist for the ADHB gastroenterology service, so I know first-hand how brilliant our country's specialists are! How about you?

      I'm at the other end, in Dunedin. And no, it's not that cold either! But I was born in Auckland. Enjoying my retirement now after years of teaching in various parts of the world then 'performing' as a tour guide in the local chocolate factory. I've also had an incisional hernia repaired with mesh and another short stay in hospital with cellulitis. But I'm feeling more confident as the weeks pass. You need to wait five years before they might say you're cancer free, so I'm just over the half way point. But must not wish the months away, as my Dr wisely said, 'life is for living!'
