information regarding an upcoming angeogram. I'm having it monday morning the 23rd and would like to know if anyone on pred for awhile has been in this situation and has been advised or has on their own made an adjusment to dosage to ward off stress. I am now at 5 mg and have been for about 3 weeks. Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul, I haven't personally experienced an angiogram but do have a lot of experience in looking after people like yourself undergoing angiogram.( previous coronary care nurse specialist) there is no reason to adjust your prednisolone dose and probably best to stay at your comfort dose prior to procedure. I trust you feel informed about what is going to happen during your test and wish you well

ps try not to worry to much ...easier said than done I know

Hi Paul. I had an angiogram while still on 10mg and, like you, was pretty stressed about it but needn't have worried! All was fine and I carried on as normal on the same dose. Now on 5mg like you. Try to keep calm. I found the worse part was the pre procedure compulsary warning on risks involved, which ruined my attempted relaxation and I had to then ask for a sedative! I was then given morphine which helped but left me feeling hungover for a couple of days afterwards! Good luck and I hope it goes well for you.

My husband has just had an angiogram and had no trouble at all.  He said the worst part of it was waiting to go into the theatre!  Slight discomfort, no pain, no after effects.

Good luck on Monday, and don't worry.

    Regards fr Constance.

yup, me too. I was probably on 5 or 6 mg/day last October. Angiogram needed after stress echo test. No symptoms day to day. No problem with the angiogram, in and out the same day, a few days for insertion point in groin to settle down. Weird warm feeling through brain as dye traveled through system like a wave that lasted a couple of seconds. They had to wait until blood clotted sufficiently before releasing me.

Had to go back for stent (a bit too complicated to do first time, complete blockage at a joint). Overnight as they add something to reduce clotting around the stent which means it doesn't clot at insertion point so easily. A lot more bruising that time and the uncertainty of not quite knowing what I could do.

Bonus was the rehab. Supervised exercise. Got back a lot of fitness I'd lost to the pmr. without a flare. 8 months on I feel heaps better than since onset of pmr and getting better all the time. Can't really describe the feeling of walking up steep hill and aching from the exercise not the pmr. Magic. Down to 3mg/day now but struggling to get lower.

    Best of luck.
