Would doxycline help with visible red veins in eyes?

A little background -

All was well until one morning I woke up with bloodshot eyes, although this was very unusual i didn't think much of it and thought it will clear up the next morning. Time went on and for a week my eyes were bright red. I went to my gp who thought it was conjuncitivis and give me eyedrops. a week later the redness went down but left pink veins in my eyes that have never went away, 6 months on i have no other symptoms other than the redness in my eyes.

I have tried artifical tears which just seem to irritate my eye. (my eyes don't feel dry) I just want to get rid of these veins, sometimes if i get something in my eye like a hair the pink veins turn really red like a spiderweb.

Would doxycline help make my eyes white?

    Hi,

Doxycline and Doxycycline. Are normally used in the treatment of bacterial infections such as acne and are also used to treat gonorrhoea and clamydia so not sure what help it would be for red veins in eyes.

Have you discussed this with an eye specialist?

      Hi,

I have researched a bit about doxycyline and some people on different forums have said the dilated blood vessels in eyes cleared up, It seems people with dry eye sometimes get prescribed doxy. I will discuss with eye doctor, just wanted to know if anyone else has took this for their eyes. I am very careful with what I do as i do not have any symptoms other than the red veins that have developed for some reason in my eyes.

As you have no other symptoms it wuld be safer to discuss it with the experts first.

Doxy comes with its own side effects including nausea.

there are dfferent types of artificial tears and also a spray which you spray on your closed eyelids that lubricates and helps irritated eyes.

try resting your eyes more where possible and also try to limit your use of computers and mobile phones.  Also wear sunglasses in bright lights.

I hope you get something sorted out soon but your first port of call should be the experts as what works for some can harm others.
