Vestibular Migraines

So after months of tests, scans and seeing various specialists apparently I have vestibular migraines!

I have been suffering for years with headaches and last September 4 months after my son was born out of no-where I was extremely dizzy and this has been the case ever since, I get horrendous headaches and dizzy spells when I just can't walk I either have to crawl on my hands or knees or just sit still!

I have seen ent, neuro, chiro, physio, accupuncture, tried sertraline, propanranol, amtrip, echo on my heart, worn a 24hr holter, had bloods upon bloods, and nothing at first they thought it was vestibular neuritis but now they think it's vestibular migraines which it could well be, they want me to start Topamax next week to see if that helps and tbh I will try anything right now I am that close to chopping my own head off! I think I could cope with the headache I just hate the dizziness as its constant never goes! Headaches are there all the time, I also have tmj which I am waiting to have botox on to try and release some tension in my head and jaw.

Doctors keep playing the anxiety card and yes my symptoms are causing me massive health anxiety but I don't think it's anxiety causing my headaches and dizziness! It's such a debilitating condition I feel helpless at the mo which is a nightmare as I'm a mum of 2 and working which is a daily struggle x

Have you considered, or looked into, any form of alternative medicine? Acupuncture or homeopathiy may be worth researching further. Even a change in diet may help. I hope you find an answer and some help.

Feel really sorry for you, the Dr's do hack me off with the anxiety and then you might bend up going through periods of proving its not mental health or stress.

But Nadolol really helped me after falling down the stairs backwards. Not until breaking my foot and another where I broke my wrist.

I'm not saying this will help you or condone it been right but making myself sick & spending some time asleep in a very dark room. I really don't want to get poison injected into my head. But hope it helps if you go that route

Oh no! Your story sounds much like mine with the months of testing before neurologist said VM. Do you also feel confused and sensitive to light and sound?

Please post more as you try new things. I've been afraid of the Botox. I'd love to hear if it, or the Topamax, helps.

Doctors alone have a way of causing anxiety. They toy with you offering all kinds of different "things"  and those things are just as trying not to mention seeing so many different Drs. I will pray for you - as a migrainer I empathize with you and truly hope there's a healthy resolve for you .

    God Bless you
