Hi just a quick question regarding warts

Hi everyone what Im asking is not PMR related but my story is that I was diognosed with PMR last February and went on 15mg of Pred.  I am currently pain free. I had 4 small warts on my hand and my GP freezed them twice but they keep growing back bigger , they are sore and look to be inflamed under the skin , Just wondering if it has anything to do with PMR or the meds that Im taking , thanks in advance.

Get a friend to buy them off you  - you will need four friends.

Most likely not connected to PMR. Procedure usually uses liquid nitrogen, and it burns in essence wart and area around it, which can cause soreness and burning sensation.

As far as removing warts, I would suggest to see dermatologist. In my experience, GPs don't know how to remove them, although they use liquid nitrogen, just like dermatologists, but I think it has to do with skill and how often you do the procedure. Freezing has to be deep enough to get the "root".

My understanding is that it is the steroids depressing the immune system. I have them on my delightful moon face! Thank you Prednisolone!! I've been using over the counter wart remover with some success. I have one recalcitrant one that may require something more violent to get to the root!

The weird side effects never end do they?    You probably need to see

    a dermatologist.....

I've been dealing with PMR for just over three years and my

take is there are as many side effects as there are sufferers.

Every day is "trick or  treat" as we never know what will happen

      that day......

Totally agree - been on them for just over 2 years.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!   Started at 30 mg, have used the dsns method throughout, dropped AA after 1 month, stopped Omeprazole at 8 mg of pred, getting more exercise and fresh air, still take the Calcium + D3.  Will start a small reduction in a couple of weeks as I have been on 2 mg for a month or so - was not prepared to start new reduction just before my holidays.

I've been having a wart problem with my high dose pred for GCA for a number of years. Most of them (12) are on the toe area of one foot. Since warts are a virus the docs explained this is happening because my immune system is knocked down. I've seen 2 dermatologists who have tried freezing them off in multiple visits. Most just grow back. My rheumy suggests waiting until my immune system is better. She's concerned I'll get an infection.

I've been told a paste made with crushed asprin covered with duct tape and left covered for a week at a time might help. Another suggestion was cider vineager covered with a bandaid changed each day. Don't know if these home remedies work.

Aspirin works but you have to be careful not to burn the surrounding skin.  Petroleum jelly can help protect it. I suggest alternate days with a tea tree application on the intervening day.
