I am 38 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with PG. I hope this post can help another woman suffering with this horrible condition I was diagnosed with PG after going to my dermatologist regarding red itchy bumps that started on my thighs. The itching was unbearable. My Doctor did a biopsy on the biggest bump on my leg and informed me days later that it was PG. The bumps start out small and itch intensely. It's an itch that is indescribable and can become painful due to how intense you scratch. I was put on 40 mgs of Prednisone taken once a day before 9am. I have been on it for 8 days and I can't say if it's working as the rash has increased and spread to every part of my body except my face. I take frequent cool baths with aveeno oatmeal fragrance free bath wash and I soak in oatmeal baths. I slather myself in calamine and use on steroid creams, cortizone and aveeno anti itch lotion on my body as well as gold bond powders. I have very few periods of comfort and my skin is constant state of unease. I am hoping to get relief from this on the delivery of my baby although from my research delivery does not always relieve the condition and it may last for weeks after. I am not sure of the outcome but I am praying because I can't imagine dealing with the pain of a c-section and this disease with a new born baby whom I pray is not in the percentile of baby's born with this rash (a milder form with shorter duration). I recommend frequent cool showers, staying in air conditioned or very cool environments, benadryl and the prednisone which I hope starts to get rid of this.

It's been almost 2 months since my son was born and the rash is not gone. It is under control somewhat under prednisone but i feel like i'm going to have to be on this steroid for a long time because when i start to taper, I feel the itches and tingles come back and small red bumps and sometimes hives reappear. I was/am super traumatized by this freakish disease. Prednisone is awful too, especially combined with the hormones from giving birth and dealing with a new baby, etc. Good luck to any who have this. I came online scouring the internet to find others who have it. So awful.
