Painful hip replacement
Posted , 6 users are following.
I had a total hip replacement nearly 6 years ago, my issue is that I have developed lower back pain, my back locks and is very painful, but then today, I have pain around the back of my upper thigh/bum like a bruised feeling. I have had groin pain for a while and strange sensations but have been told it's fine but the bruise feeling is new. Anyone else experienced this?

Unfortunately my thr has not been successful replacement ok but surgeon has damaged my femoral nerve. I still get a lot of groin pain which I have had from accident plus other pain. So I was better off before. Perhaps you should ask Dr for referral to specialist you may have begun to wear out your hip being young and active but probably should be checked anyway. I hope my reply helps. I have not had spasm for about a year and still do exercises so maybe it has helped. I don't do them regular though!

My back was painfull after THR .. After X-rays and tests it was several issues . Scoliosis, disc degeneration due to arthritis in lower back.........I decided to GP the PT ROUTE .
heled me tremendously. Strengthened core and back muscles to help support bones and the hips.
Rehab after back surgery is hard on the back and other joints struggling to just get up and down from bed .
Check with UR GP sometimes X-rays can tell the story. Once the diagnosis is made then UR on UR way to treatment.

Laura, I don't know what causes your pains, I'm not a doctor. But I do know, as any lawyer would tell you, that you have a right to demand that the problem be corrected.
In my experience, the types of pain you describe are consistent with a femoral stem micromovement or the onset of loosening.

You should also determine what type of prosthesis was used and whether it was subject to any known faults.

Laura43291 I have developed scoliosis since my THR in 2014 it is so bad I can not sleep through the night and can not walk very long. I am in constant pain. The Dr's refuse to help as they do not want to touch another Dr's screw up after using too long of an implant. One Dr suggested using heel lifts 1 in plus is my discretion on my length.
