I'm a type 2 diabetic and have had problems with blood sugar going high ever since I started taking Avastin. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are you getting Avastin on NHS?   I am having to pay privately to get it.  Not cheap by any means.

I live in America so don't understand NHS. I am very lucky, I think. I am on Medicare, which does not pay for it, but my doctors have been writing it off. I think it only costs them about $50/shot. It has not been approved by the Federal Drug Administration for macular degeneration here, so that is why Mediare does not pay for it.

My wife is a type 2 diabetic and has been having Avastin injections (£850  a go) for some time with no increase in blood sugar levels.  Maybe your level would have gone up anyway.

Thanks, Richard. It's possible. The tech at the doctor's office said Avastin didn't raise blood sugar, but I found it on the Internet. I always look in more than one place for side effects. I'm taking 6 more units every morning now. Interesting that it hasn't raised your wife's.
