After H Pylori

Hi everyone,I have posted here before,I have been treated for h pylori, antibiotics and lansoprazole.Prior to treatment I had complete loss of appetite and loss of weight.Although by force feeding I am keeping my weight between 117 pounds and 118.I still have no appetite, most worrying is I am losing body fat,I am so skinny, weak, tired of fighting this, feel like giving up at times.I have a appt to see specialist but that is nearly two months away,I do not think I will make it that long.I was a size 14 now size 8-10.my skin is wrinkled,I am now just getting over vaginal thrush, but now have soreness around that area and itchy rear end.I just wonder if I might have a different infection caused by h pylori,or it has damaged my tummy so badly.I am small framed so it is very obvious of my fat loss, now wear big jumpers etc as people ask what is wrong with me all the time, has anyone ever experienced this? I would be so greatfull for any advice .Thank you.

Sorry to hear you are feeling that way, I am going through it myself from 75 now I weigh 60.. At the beginning I had problem eating, chest pain, body ache, under breast pain.. I have had two endoscopy done and a colonoscopy all is clear but the first endoscopy found h.p and d second one said it's gone but found mild gasteris.. Now I still get pain in my arm n some sort of numbness in my small finger and on and off tommy arch, every test is staying clear.. My Hope/Faith is in God that all this will clear off soon and my weight will start raising because I hate it when my friend ask what is going on, it stresses me out.. If anyone has suggestion pls help

I also had a initial colonscopy which found h pylori,as yet cannot have a retest for three months so my doctor said,my heart goes out to you,I pray you will get better, one of the worst infections to get, although I know many after treatment get better, many do not, maybe at times h pylori causes other problems. Please let me know how you get on.

    Hi Tasha ,

I too had hpylori treatment last June . I did the antibiotic treatment as well . I was on a family holiday in Cuba . Can home unwell- loss of appetite and loss of weight . It's good that you are maintaining your weight now .

How is your stress level ? If it is high it will upset your digestive system . Do you have any other symptoms? Tired?

The best that's helping me is working with a Holistic Nutritional Mediciene doctor -  she helps with supplements and diet... If you want more information let me know .... Audrey

Hi Audrey, thank you for replying,I find it so strange that this bug which can be in us for a long time suddenly and instantly stops appetite. My only symptoms were loss of appetite, loss of weight, mostly body mass, and slight uncomfortable feeling upper mid abdomen, nausea at times.Yes I had severe tiredness, and still have, can very easily cry, which gets me down.I take probiotics, yoghurts, anything to get me back to normal,so far do not feel any better.I am worried that left to long one of my internal organs will fail.I can hardly function at all now, legs feel to weak to hold my body up.May I ask what diet and supplements you take.I hope you are doing well

      Hi Diane,

It was me Audrey suggesting to Tasha to try holistic Mediciene. Using supplements and herbs to heal inflammation of the stomach and intestines... Do you still get symptoms and pain ?? How is your appetite ?

Mine is slowly coming back .. I use slippery elm, activated charcoal , probiotics a whole lot of them !!! Bone broth ( excellent for protein and healing ) zinc, vitamin D...

No gluten, dairy or minimal sugars ..

It can take a long time to heal ... I gave up on acid reducers ... You need to slowly ween yourself off if you have been using along time ... 😃👍

Ooh sorry thanks, I will look into it... My appetite is coming on very slowly, I am getting tummy cramps on and off.. Sometimes It feels as if there is stuff stuck in my throat but not often... What type of pro-biotic do you use and what is Bone Broth???? I will check it out from the health shop... Or where is the place to buy them... I live in London... Thank you, pls update

Do you get arm pain and some type of numbness at any point in time during this????

I am seeing my Gp today, it's not like she is doing anything because all the test came back clear.. But I am been seen by Gastroentology... Not that they are doing much either

      Diane

Are you from London , Ontario.

Yes medical doctors are not much help with nutrition and how to heal inflammation except with acid reducers...

I have seen both my family doctor an gastroenterologist ... And all is clear ... I have had many tests with no answers...

Eating healthy , taking holistic medicines ..

Yes call a health food store to find someone who can coach you back to healing .. Best thing I did smile

To be honest was taking lansoprazole, was getting tummy ache, but I read somewhere that ppi stop acid in the stomach which in turn means the stomach is not functioning normally as it needs acid to break down food,I have stoppped taking it now to see if my tummy might go back to normal, but please do not do this unless you talk to your doctor. My only reason for doing this is desperation.I had taken them for three weeks after treatment,I am supposed to have another two months to go on them, depending on how I feel, that is if I feel worse will then take them again.Maybe your doctor might let you reduce the dosage,or change to another, there are quite a few out there you can try.Best wishes to you

      Audrey,

I totally agree with you they are not helping at all... I have just been to see my Gp no result, she still can't give me any answers but what I realise is that my weight has stay d same for a week now.. My Gp, she keep asking me for more blood test.. They are sucking out the little blood in my body, she can't tell me why d pain in my arm won't go away :-(.... I live in London UK not Canada. I will get on to fine d holistic medicine, I was also told that peppermint oil does help for inflammation????
