I had ELA on both legs 2 weeks ago. For some reason I'm having numbness, shooting, stabbing knifing severe pain in the inside of this ankle. This leg ha no open sores but cant stand touching there. Dr. says it's just nerve coming back to life from surgery but don't have this problem on other leg. Out of nowhere I get this sharp pain shooting up this leg. Hurts to walk on and Hydrocodone 10/325 dont help much. This has been going on for 7 days now and not getting any better. Has anyone else had this problem as my family Dr. had no ansrews and surgeon said would only last 2 to 3 days and I'm going on 8. HELP

Sounds painful sad I can't say that I had any shooting pains - but I did have a lot more pain and for longer than I expected. I was told I would be fine within a few days but I had pain in my leg for upto 6-8 weeks afterwards. It wasn't really painful shooting pains but I have twinges and it was really sore to touch. It is gone now - but it took way longer than I had anticipated. Hopefully it should heal in time - if I was you I would go back to the doc in another week if it still hasn't calmed down at all. Hope you get better!

Thanks for your reply, I have talked to 2 other people my Dr. performed this procedure on and they did not have any symptons like mine. I typed these symptoms along with my procedure on my computer and neurolgia website appeared. The symptoms for this mirrored mine. Neuralgia means the irritation or damage to the nerve. I sure hope this goes away soon and if it doesn't I have an appt. with my foot and ankle specialist next Wed. to get his opinion as it will be 15 days since I noticed this pain by then and I'm not handling the pain very well.

hello, I am having the same problem that you did. I had my varicose veins removed on both legs a week ago & although the cuts are healing I have severe pain & numbness on just my left leg above the ankle mainly on the shin area. I also have a bad ulcer on that ankle which was a cause of the vricose veins. My leg is swollen there as well but that was like that before the surgery.

Could you let me know if your leg is back to normal, thanks.

Sorry for not replying before now but I know EXACTLY what is wrong with me. I went to Mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota and they ran 5 tests in less then 2 days and my illeac vein is plugged because of blood clots at my filter location. This filter was installed after my car accident on November17th 2006. I am having surgery on October4th to try to have clots removed and stents intalled. Dr gave me a 60 percent chance of success.

I had evlt 6 weeks ago. Constant burning and throbbing in ankle and lump in calf Cannot even put sheet or stretch out leg to sleep Dr. diagnosed nerve damage, a compliation of laser. Can take up to 9 mos for nerves to regenerate Am taking gabapentin 3X a day. Pain not gone but much more bearable, Your symptoms very similar to mine. Maybe ask dr about this medication for you. Good luck to both of us. Just want leg to feel normal not concerned about appearance
