Dementia is a general all over dafitness. Generally they are pleasantly confused, will recognize family for a long time but may remember them as children.  They may decide to go shopping at midnight etc.

Alzheimer's Begins like all dementias but they slowly forget how to live. It is pretty devastating as they may exhibit behaviours they would never have done in their life. Ie swearing profusely, violence towards people around them etc until they become a silent she'll of who they were.

It all depends on which area of the brain that is affected and why with dementia. Behaviour may drive you silly but they are still there. Alzheimer's they die long before they physically die. Caused by holes developing in the. Brain.

Dementia is actually an 'umbrella term'.  It includes different types of organic brain failure.  There are many different types of dementia, with Alzheimer's disease being the most common type of dementia.

Dimentia is declining cognitive ability caused by brain cell death. Alzheimer is a type of dimentia, but there are other types. If your brain shows protein build up that kills the brain cells it is called alzheimer. If your dimentia is caused by mini strokes and blood not getting to your brain cells, it is called vascular dimentia. these are the two most common types. you have many other types. It is usually very hard to say which one you have, because the tests are both invasive and expensive, so the doctors guess by your symptoms. One can lead to the other, so you can have a mix.
