Does the Weight come off after pizotifen?

I have been on Pizotifen for a couple of years and have put on 3 stone in weight even though I eat quite healthily. I take 3x1.5 tablets each night and am thinking of reducing to 2x1.5 tablets... does anyone know if the weight comes off after reducing/ceasing Pizotifen?

I came off pizotifen about 10 months ago. The weight started coming off right away and I am now back to the weight I was before I started. HOWEVER - if you are going to reduce your dose be careful - you may start to get migraines more frequently again for a while.

    Hi

I dropped my dose down to 1x1.5 pizotifen tablets last October but the weight wouldn't shift. However I didn't have any migranes. I decided in June this year to just stop them altogether. I had put on just under 5 stones since taking those tablets. Since June I've lost 2 and a half stones easily and the weight is still going. I've only had one migrane so hopefully it's all going ok!! I asked my doctor if the pizotifen put weight on you and he said NO.......... pahhhhh seems he knows nothing about that then!

Glad to hear you have managed to get off the pizotifen. The weight will come off - I am back to my starting

weight after 12 months. I have had doctors tell me to take the drug only when I get a migraine in the past - makes me wonder exactly what they know, although I appreciate that they have an also lot to remember. I'd rather they looked it up to confirm.

It has been helpful to see this discussion as I have been deperate to come off propanolol and sanomigran for over 3 years becuase of weight gain.

Soon after strating propanolol for migraine I reported weight gain to my GP who poo pooed it. In the end my Chronic Fatigue Specialist offered to get me off this by putting me on Sanomigran. And guess what? I put on even more weight.

It has taken me 3 1/2 years to come off propanolol. I was so sensitive to withdrawal symptoms that I had to be put on liquid form and even then with each withdrawal I had awlful symptoms. I finally stopped the propanolol three 3 weeks ago but still feeling quite agitated, anxious and headachey. Once I am through this I go back to my specilialist to then run through how to come off the sanomigran.

I am despairing with it all, as I know I will have to go through similar with the sanomigran. Also concerned that I won't be able to lose all the weight I have gained (I cannot exercise greatly due to the chronic fatigue).

Has anyone found something that helps with the withdrawal symptoms and migraine but at the same times does not cause weight gain?
