trying to get pregnant for 2yrs and using metformin, has anyone had these symptoms/Side effects?!?!

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 6 years ago. My husband and I have been having unprotected sex since then with the thought "if it happens, it happens " but the last two years we've been trying to conceive with no luck so far. I talked to my Dr and she put me on Metformin ER 1500mg a day starting in November 2014. I had such an awful experience/side effects from it. Severe diarrhea like 6x a day. It was so bad that after taking a pill 2hrs later it was coming out. The whole pill. I even tried breaking it in half thinking it was absorb bettter and i even tried crushing it and dissolving in water but all it did was clump up making it even worse to swallow! My butt was so raw from wiping, it even hurt to pee. I quit taking the pill in March this year. While i was on the pill i had regular periods even longer periods. Before the pill I only had a period every 3-6 months and it would only be spotty lasting 1-3days. I have not talked to my Dr since I stopped, she said nauseous and diarrhea was a normal side effect..... but has anyone had it this bad, too? I feel my case is worse than normal. I've read other sites and never seen a post talking about extreme diarrhea. My husband wants me to start taking the pills again but i am scared now. We are considering looking for a fertility Dr but not sure how to go about it with insurance and stuff. Any input is helpful! Thanks!

Isn't reduced fertility a common condition with PCOS?  i'd think you'd need a specialist fertility doctor in these circumstances but I'm not in the US so I don't know how you'd go about it there.   I do know IVF has a very high failure rate and this would be increased in your case.

Don't take the medication again if you're not happy with it: your husband isn't the one with the nasty effects, so you get to decide about your own body

Sorry for what you went through. HAve you been succesful, I have had that experience with Metformin for PCOS too.  Severe diarrhea, headache, general body weakness and loss of appetite. I was told to increase dose from 850 to 1700, I couldnt take it I ended up taking 850 for 4 months. I hope you have managed to find a fertility doctor. Wsihing you all the best.
