possible tapeworm ?

Hi I passed a approx 6 inch flat tape like thing , it seems very smooth yellowish almost transparent, I see no segments, is this a tape worm ? I have a pic of part of it but I'm not sure how to upload ? I'd appreciate any information thank you

    If it is a tape worm you will continue to pass bits of it. They can live for twenty years so you need to get tablets to destroy it if you find it is a tape worm.

    Tapeworm infection is awful. Also, be looking for little round clear, orangey , or black round sacks. These are the egg sacks that the tapeworms lets go of as it dies. Because a tapeworm dies from the bottom to the scolex(head), which sucks because the head is what can make it reproduce. Are you on any medication to kill the tapeworm? I always say it's smart to take a video or to take a specimen in with you to the doctor. You need to be taking supplements and eating the right foods!

      Hi thanks for your reply, I just passed it last ngt so I've not had a docs apt yet , im not 100% sure it's a tape worm as I've looked really closely and I can't see any segments at all ? Its completely smooth ? Is that possible ? Or am I just in denial?

      Hello, Morgan I was reading your posts and you seem very clued up on the tape worm! I am adament that I have tape, I have also done a lot of reading and I am a cat breeder who feeds raw meat daily - beef, pork, chicken and with organs. I was just wondering if you could help me, more so than any of the health care professionals have so far. I have a picture and I am happy to answer any questions! More importantly any advice or help on defeating this would be superb! Many thanks in advance. Meg x

      hi I am so sorry everyone is dealing with this.  I also passed what looked like a tape worm to me and a egg sac, i showed this picture to the people at the urgent care and they instructed me to do a stool test.  The results came back negative and I am thinking about geting a second opinion because it looks like a tape worm and I had really bad diahrea and stomach pain for a couple days then got better then again for a full day when I passed this thing.

      Have been reading posts about threadworms with some interest.

      I took some pics yesterday as I was concerned as to what I'd found in my poop...

      I have for years been plagued with constipation, sometimes for as long as 15 days.

      So just recently I have been taking two DULCOLAX on a Tuesday evening, then 'going' on the Wednesday.

      But this time as I wiped, I saw a load of spaghetti looking strings with darker pieces of what I thought might be poop inside it. It was elastic to pull apart. And had a smell I'd never smelled before.

      Anyway, this morning chemist gave me a pill to take and said worms would be passed in two days. But from what I've been reading, the pill doesn't always work !!

      I'm feeling pretty dirty inside right now and want this thing out of me.

      Wish I knew how to post the pics.

      Was hoping to post the pictures but not sure how to.

      Hi morganlinds. I sm in desperate need of advice. I dewormed with vermoc five months ago and seemed to open pandoras box. Got feeling ofvsomrthing crawling in my throat. I hsd an mri and it showed a long mass down my oesophagus. The ENT removed it surgically and has sent it for histological tests.i am currently on albendazole 1 tab/day (2nd course)but I still have the movement in my thtoat around my thyroid. What advice can u give me please.

      You seem to have some knowledge on tape worms, i was hoping your still around to perhaps advise/help me with my current tapeworm issues?

    well I have had a tapeworm for the past 8 months off and on because if auto infection. But I think this time I'm killing it. I don't know can you take a photo of the stool?  And wash your hands a lot!!!! Do you have any animals? I mean the chances of you passing segments of s tapeworm without albendazole or praziquantel is pretty hard to believe. You should go get an enema. But take a picture, oh and don't expect the medical community to be all hyped on helping you because it took 8 months for them to realize what was going on with me! It's goin to be a nice medical malpractice suit but it's Been hell he past month on Albendazole 800mg a day!  I have become an expert so post a picture

      hello i am finding this thread interesting.  I have just been given the all clear on a liver cyst which i have and what was thought to be a hyditad cyst (parasitic) but after having the serology test last week, it is OK.  All the consultant wants to do is monitor the cyst so i have a follow up scan in 3 - 4 months time.  I was googling and researching hyditad cysts and was scaring myself silly as it sounds a horrible thing to have but like you say Albendazole seems to be the only medication out there to kill the tapeworms.  I'm still not 100% sure whether my diagnosis is correct so am not sure whether to go for a 2nd opinion or not or just take their word for it?

      hi. Have you been proven to have tapeworm ?? Do you have cysticercosis? You mentioned the tapeworm and cysts. I would be certain that You have tapeworm and trust me you would know after awhile( they say some people don't know for 20 years but I am way more attentive) because you don't want to be taking albendazole if you don't have it due to its strain on the liver. Have they performed any x Rays mris catscan or a gi specialist may be your best bet.

      Yes I have had an MRI and had a serology test and from possible hydatid cyst it is now not that. I originally had an ultrasound scan for possible gallstones then a complex cyst was found which is now being monitored.

      Pork Tapeworms, I have been on Albendazolle for 7 mounths now. taking 800mg a day.I went threw hell for a year. I was told I had lupus and alot of other things.How can I get a malpractice suit. I am disfigered now. Lost everything over it. Please help.

      OMG... I have gone thru the same thing.... went from 180 to 112lbs... lost all my hair,,, my muscles atrophied... couldn’t even walk from pain in my feet... neuropathy,,, thought I had lupus,,, Multiple Sclerosis...ended up in hospital on a ventilator with sepsis and septic shock with all my organs shutting down bc I was malnourished and my body couldn’t handle the double pneumonia  MRSA actually in my lungs...ironically my sister has hookworms ??.... and I thought maybe I did too so she reluctantly gave me Albenza and now I’m passing what looks like tapeworm and she doesn’t even wanna test me bc she thinks I’m crazy... my entire family thinks I’m a hypochondriac,,, it has ruined my life....??

      some tricks I've learned to fight this, To help with your legs and feet, Take a Towel soak in a mixture of hot water And epson salt. Wrap it around your feet and legs and let the mixture do its magic it will reduce swelling and you wont believe whats in the towel.
