Chest Pain

Hi,

For over the past 12 months I have been experiencing intermittent chest pains that can be described at times as shooting and other times as an ache or discomfort and have a tendency to move around my chest. When the pain/ache/sensation occurs around the left side of my chest (heart area) I get extremely worried. I also have occasional soreness around the sternum area of my rib cage and back pain as well. When this first started last year I went to A & E twice and subsequently had blood tests, chest x-ray and numerous ECGs. In December of last year I began to experience stomach pains and was diagnosed with Gastritis and was given a course of Omeprazole which cleared it up. It was at this time I was also diagnosed with a heart murmur and had an echocardiogram and cardiac MRI. That was back in February and I am still suffering from some sort of chest pain on a daily basis. I have been back to the GP three times since then (seen locums) and they only offer me anti-depressants as I also have a history of anxiety. I am 46 years old and try to stay active through swimming, walking and cycling. Has anyone else had a similar experience like this or offer suggestions?

Yes Stuart. I've been dealing with this on and off for over a year now. At times I feel they assume it's anxiety bc I'm a fairly young 32 year old woman who appears healthy. But the pain is real and it scares me so much. I'm in and out of the ERs and countless doctor visits and labs and exams. Hoping to get it sorted soon as it's taking over my life. Hope you get answers soon as well.

    Hi Stuart

Have they given you Silver Nitrate spray ?

They gave me this as I continually have chest pains every so often since having a heart attack.

Mind you, they did stop with the spray, as it dropped my blood pressure to low, now I have the tablet version, so I can spit the tablet out as I feel it is working.

Have they put you on 75mg Aspirin ?

Have you had your Cholestrial checked to see if it is to high ?

Best of luck and let us know what you find out and of course, if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Kev
