Subluxating hips?

Posted , 4 users are following.

I don't have a formal diagnosis yet, im currently labelled fibromyalgia but ive just been referred back to the specialist hospital where that was diagnosed as my latest doctor has spotted that I have beighton score of 7, IBS, spondylolisthesis, chronic joint pain etc which was somehow missed before. Whatever, im very bendy, clicky and hurty!

Ever since I was a kid ive had the sensation that my hips go "out of joint" and it takes a few minutes to walk it off. Its painful and makes me walk stiffly.

As ive got older its worse. For some reason when I sit in a car for any more than an hour my hips lock up when I get out. It also happens when I squat down and get back up.

Anybody else got this? What are you diagnosed with?

    Hello

all of your symptoms that you have mentioned are neatly exactly the same as mine. Specially the hips. I am also diagnosed fibromialgia and also suffer from chronic joint pain due to hypermobility syndrome, which is very painful in it self. I find my hips are the worst when I am due and on my monthly women's stuff and we'll all of my joints really as the change in hormones affects the calogen in joints xxx

This is an old thread but I have these symptoms and after many years of messing around I finally got diagnosed with 'acetabullar labrum tears' in both hips. These are little tears in the joint lining which catch and get stuck when the ball joint moves, hence the dislocation and nasty grating sensations as well as bad pain. Sometimes they stay stuck for days until suddenly they'll click back meaning every activity is terribly painful including finding a good position to lay down in. Sadly the only treatment is hip arthroscopy to debride the joint but surgeon said its catch 22 as with HMS the joints may not heal post surgery and therefore have same if not worse pain. So I decided not to have it done (yet).

I have very hyper mobile feet and ankles and the hip pain and sensations have improved dramatically since seeing a biomechanical specialist who gave me rigid orthotics of the right degree to prevent excessive over probation of my feet which was putting massive strain on my hips. If you still have this problem I'd recommend asking a doc to refer you to a hip specialist, and also consider having someone look at the way you walk. It may really help.

    Hope this helps.
