Hi I had very severe acne as a teenager and well into my 20's.  Fortunately mine virtally stopped in my mid 20's.  I do feel for you that yours hasn't.

Have you ever taken rouccatine?   It wasn't available when I was young but it is supposed to be very good.  It's best if you can get your acne under control before you have treatment for the scars.  But if you  can't why not go for treatment anyway?

I had 2 dermabrasions on the NHS which worked wonders.  Unfortunately it is no longer available on the NHS.   Laser treatment (which you have to pay for) is available and your best bet is to go via the hospital and a proper surgeon.  It is very expensive and around 8 years ago I was quoted £4,400.

If your scars are quite deep and you have pitts in your skin chemical peels won't be very effective,  and this is all clinics can do.    Go and see a dermatologist first for advice.   The dermatologist I saw worked privately as well.   Good luck and let me know how you get on please.

Oh by the way the dermatologist said he wouldn't operate on anyone who smoked and you had to have been stopped for 6 months.  The reason for this is that laser leaves open wounds which can easly become infected through smoke.  x

I have suffered from Cystic Acne for nearly 8 years, I am posting what cured my problem on the hope it will help someone else. I tried many antibiotics over the years, all the creams you can get, I went vegetarian for one year, and I went without diary for 6 months. I tried taking all the health supplements you can think of. I did all the "natural stuff" - the cleaning, the cleansing, avoiding this/that, everything (yes even EVERYTHING posted above). I took outrageous amounts of vitamin A. I watched my diet like crazy, and chugged water everyday. I had tried EVERYTHING!!! Seriously everything! Finally, I tried one more drug before I would take Accutane (way too scary, dont take it, its essentially chemotherapy). My Derm prescribed Spironolacto - he told me I have to be patient with it. I take 50mg twice per day. After two months of being on it my face was CLEAR - since then, its been 6 months, I have had NO BREAKOUTS!!!! (I used to have a new breakout every week) I am over the moon and I wanted to share my success!!

You need regular skin care treatment like regular clean ups.

Like Samantha said above - whatever you do don't ever use prescription medication for acne. its side effects are just not worth the result - if you even get the result you want. I went on accutane for about 10 years - basically my parents told me to do it and I was too young to know better. The side effects, the dry skin, mouth, eyes... they almost made me more depressed than the partial clearing I saw in my skin. Never before I tried it was I ever depressed and even now to this day, I find myself battling periodic depression which I attribute 100% to this terrible drug that I took. My mum finally decided that enough was enough and took me off this drug and we looked for other solutions. My cousin in the States also had terrible acne around the same time and swore up and down about a smaller company she had found - I had never heard it over here in England. So she sent me some of their products to try and I couldnt believe the results. My skin cleared up in literally 2 months, when I had been battling acne for 10+ years with little to no clearing at all. To this day I cannot believe it. My scaring is there but over the years, it has minimized with some of their bleaching products. All in all, I am just an entirely different person than I was before I started using Ninja Skincare.... A little more expensive for us since we have to pay shipping (they charge $30 USD for shipping internationally) but I just buy it in bulk for like 6 months so it doesn't make the shipping so high. I highly reccommend that you try it.

The acne scars occur when a pimple or cyst gets popped or broken, leaving behind a layer of damaged skin. The natural treatments that reduce inflammation and exfoliate dead skin cells. The Most effective way to remove acne importantly, keep your skin clean, eat a healthy diet, and avoid substances that can make your acne worse.

    Hi Mate,

Y u can't try castor oil splitting on ur stomach before going to bed everY day. It worked for me. I faced similar situation with the very bad acne problem that destroyed my confidence for many years. Sometimes, Heat is the culprit that cause pimples for a long time. So one of the effective way to get rid of this is applying castor oil in ur stomach every night. Cheers 🍻

Acne is commonly linked with hormonal changes during puberty and get resolved with time. But not in every case. Sometimes, it can stay longer. Thus, it is important to treat Acne naturally. In case you are using a product, which is not giving you any results, change it and go for some natural ingredient. You can choose Tea tree oil, Green Tea, Apple Cider Vinegar, blend of Honey and Cinnamon, etc.

Firstly, the ingredients will work on acne to reduce it redness and pain. Then, the will work on the scars. Important thing is to live a healthy and active life. If you are not getting any result, I would advise you to consult a skin specialist.

Hi, like many of them said try avoiding prescription medicines which suppress the acne.. It is important here to understand the root cause & address accordingly.. I am a Homeopath practicing for many years and have had patients with severe acne in their teens & reproductive life.. You ma try to opt for a combination of oral & topical remedies to take care of the condition internally as well as externally. Generally a combination of Berberis cream, AC-NEE 200, Picrorhiza kurroa, Bombax Malabarica & Hemidesmus indicus have healped many.. Try drinking atleast 2.5-3 liters of water, avoid fried or processed food & even food prepared with refined flour.
