a couple weeks ago. I do not have glaucoma as of right now but was told with my condition it could happen very quickly. I am booked in for laser surgery on the 18 th of December. Very scared, has any one been through any thing like this?

So - if you are having SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty), nothing to worry about.
I have no experience of other types of surgery!.

I am 71, male. I don't have glaucoma, just interocular pressure, but no optic nerve damage. My drainage angles are normal as well. My first ever eye test in 1990 got me referred to the eye department at St. Thomas', London.. The pressure was about 27, but I did not go on eyedrops until late 1997. The pressure has been up and down since then, at one stage reaching 34, but at present is 22/24, that is not causing them much concern considering my history of higher than normal pressure. I usually get cehecked every 6 or 9 months. I can see very well, but use reading glasses. I have no idea why the pressure went high, and I don't think anyone really knows!

I don't have gluacoma I have angle closure but they believe glucoma will follow. I am 56 yrs old

I was apprehensive but it was less stressful than having a filling with the dentist. Fortunately all is going well.
I am not sure about your condition and which laser treatment you will be having. However, I am sure, after a lot of research, nearly all eye problems are being well managed.
Your anxiety is natural but, without wishing to sound trite, look for the positives. It has been picked up before glaucoma has developed. I hope your eye specialist is as good as mine. Have confidence in the people treating you - all the time though asking questions and being active in the mangement of your condition. Very best wishes.

I dont have gluacomawhat I have is called acute eye closure, the doctor said it however could turn into gluacoma as well. I am 56 years old

I am 57years old and am just out of the hospital 16 hrs ago I was an in patient for 12 days. I had an acute angle closure glucoma attack which had me blind for 4 days. but Grateful thanks go to my drs at Falkirk Hospital and forth vally royal hospital. I was put on many eye drops and creams and 5 intravenious drips. I have never heard of this condition until I found I suddenly had it. My drs did lazer surgery 3 holes in my right eye and 2 in my left for drainage. I felt nothing.
I had an numbing eye dropin each eye then they did the lazer surgery. I was delighted to say my sight has come back.My eye pressure was 57 and they had to bring it down to an acceptable level its now 6.75. Please don't be afraid its so worth it. Best of Luck

I too had sudden onset acute angle closure Glaucoma a year ago - I just started with watering from outer right eye, then terrible pain, then colours and halos, then blind in that eye. I was rushed to hospital and they told me they only had a 2 hour window to save my sight. IOP was 58. They spent 4 hours putting different things into a canula before they could get the pressure down to an acceptable level, then on 2 drips up in a ward, I was terrified! Early next morning I had laser eye surgery to open up the drainage channels in each eye but with complications. Apparently the clear membrane over my eyes was not squishy and malleable but hard and the laser shots were not penetrating where they needed to go. 4 hours later after hundreds of shots the Consultant said I was ok and out of danger. Later I was discharged and just told to attend Eye Clinic one month later, then 3 months later, then should have been 6 months later,,,,but Clinic so oversubscribed I have to wait a year or so. My last readings were 18 and 23 but no idea what they are now. I find this a little worrying because IOP was climbing back up even after surgery and I do not know what I should be taking note of or what the signs are that the pressure may still be climbing. I am very pleased that you had such a good experience overall and wonder if you could give me any pointers? Perhaps they shared more information with you than I received in the UK. I would be so grateful for your reply.
