    Hi Linda

They will be doing a ct scan and Mri to rule out any thing wrong with the organs etc bright red blood means it's something lower down and will be easier to look at and sort if there is a problem

I don't like diagnosing over the forum as I would need his history lifestyle etc

I would speak to your doctor and ask if they have found anything and that your really worried

They would lentil know if the biopsy came back or if they have found anything assets all my patients I tell

Them to keep away from google as every symptom is cancer on there

The doctor is doing the right thing and sending him for the right examination

To let you know 90% of patients coming into my ward with blood coming from there back passage isn't cancer so try not to worry

I hope every thing turns out well for you both

Hi Kevin thank you for taking the time to reply my partner hasn't got any other symptoms except bloody poo no weight loss no sickness no pain good appetite no tiredness in fact if it wasn't for the fact he noticed blood he wudnt of gone to the doctor's he is 53 yrs old never smoked but does like a pint his bowel movement's as far as I'm aware haven't really changed much he does go a few times a day some times sloppy sometimes firm but not consipated when had the camera they did tell us that it was 2 growths on his rectum his bowel was clear l asked if they were polpys doctor said no might of started as if that makes sense btw he noticed blood on the monday was at doctors Friday so was very quick going to get this thing sorted , has been told will definitely need an operation regardless, l no you can't tell me what is wrong but it's nice to hear from someone who has maybe come across this before . Your welcome Linda at least he has acted fast and hopefully it will turn out benign but if it is cancer you have caught it early and will have a great chance of getting it sorted you and your husband can talk to the surgeon and see what the best way forward is I have performed hundreds of colonoscopies and the majority who came to me with passing blood was only polops non cancer but it sounds like it's very low down in rectum so has a better chance of getting it sorted I hope it all goes well.

      Hi Kevin

I've just read your advised to Linda.

Was wondering if I can ask you a question. I had a colonoscopy October last year and after 2 colonoscopies being normal ( just diverticulosis and internal piles) . This one they found a 5mm tubular polyp with low grade dysphasia. My doctor and the surgeon that did the colonoscopy wasn't worried but I can't help worrying. Should I worry or listen to them and have another one in 3 years time. My brother had a cancer ( polyp removed .

      Please help.

I'm sorry Linda for asking this to Kevin on you thread. I hope everything goes well with your husband. But sounds like his doctor is good.

Hi rosedee l hope you are okay and no don't mind l know how worrying it can be xx

Thank you for understanding. Like I said your husband doctor sounds very good . The test are just to be 100 percent . Don't google because it always goes to cancer. Plus remember if it is something it's early. That's what my doctor told me. That is why the do the colonoscopies every 3-5 years. Try and don't stress and please keep us informed of the out come . X

      Hi

To explain it there's different grades if polops yours is low Periactin 5mm is a little bigger than normal but because it's low grade it just means you have a slightly higher chance if it tuning malignant . But your surgeon is doing the right thing and monitoring it.Usually every 18months to 2 years for another colonoscopy .

I honestly wouldn't worry as if they had any doubt be sending you for a CT scan and Mir

Polops are very slow growing but patients who were found to have low Periactin polops didn't go on to have cancer hope this helped and just enjoy your life and try not to worry you will be fine

Thank you for you reply. I forgot to mention that he took it out totally and when they checked it, the pathology said it was a benign ( no malignancy) tubular adenoma with low dysphasia. I just can help but worry that I should be check earlier not in 3 years time. It was 18 months between the normal one and finding one. He said that sometime age has got slot to do with it. I just can't help to worry.

Forgot to mention he did say that they take 10 years to change if they ever do. Like you he also mention that people with polyps don't alway end up with cancer. It's only a few .

Yes he would have taken it out as anything over 1mm can become cancerous and any polops can be taken out without any problems when having the colonoscopy as I said try not to think about things as your clear and nothing to worry about

Hi rosedee when you got your polpy removed was it by surgery they have told dave that he needs surgery to remove these 2 growths he has just today had a ct scan have to go to the consultant for biopsy results on Thursday everything is going through my head like why send him for scan if was ok I'm torturing myself plus l can't stop going to Google I'm my own worst enemy x

Hi Kevin sorry for going on but if your consultant requested a ct scan and mir scan before he gives you the results of your biopsy is it possible that it's bad news
    • Posted

Not a problem I always like people to ask things when I'm consulting

no it's just a precaution I have taken biopsies thinking it looks suspicious and it's came back from the lab as normal so no it's always better to get the scans done as a precaution I know you must be feeling helpless and no matter what your told you will still worry but we're just human and worry anyway please let us know how you get on Thursdays not a couple of days away but the scans will put your mind at rest along the with the biopsy results

Yes I had my removed during my colonoscopy. No, I didn't have to have scans has mine was small and he didn't think it needed it. Try not to google I too do and most of the time it scares me so much that I keep going to the doctor wanting to do more tests. I'm sure if it was anything bad they wokld have going in touch. Try and calm down or you will get sick. Sending hugs keep us posted xx

      Hi Kevin,

I have recently noticed a faint trace of blood a mucus in my BM, a few weeks ago I passed a rather large, painful BM so I'm wondering whether I've torn something and it's bleeding every time I pass a stool.

I don't have any abdominal pain that's out of the ordinary, no weight loss (I can't seem to shift weight at the moment)!!! Fatigue?? I'm always tired so that's nothing new.

I've got an appointment tomorrow with my GP, I have colon and bowel cancer in my family so I'm obviously concerned.

I am 42 years old, reasonably healthy but could be better I guess, who couldn't???

      Any advice is welcome

      Hi Laura

All I can say is your doing the right thing and getting a doctor to see you

it can be many things mucus and bleeding can be anything from ibs , diverticulitis ,or inflammation and many many more things

They will get you a referral to see a specialist many also take a stool sample To see if there's blood inside your still As well

I know it's hard but try not to worry your still very young to have. Cancer but it runs in your family so seeing a doctor is the best bet

Then you can take it from there good luck tommorow please come back and let us all know how you are getting on there's some great people on here and it's great to share and talk to people who have gone through what you are at the moment

      Take care
