Recently Diagnosed w/ Reactive Arthritis

Posted , 10 users are following.

Recently, I have been diagnosed with Reactive Arthritis after having chlamydia. First was the left heel pain, then the mid spine pain, hip, left hip and wrist. I can manage to work and still do my daily activities normally, though I noticed my knee pain is getting progressively worse. I do have a family history of arthritis as my mother has Rheumatoid Arthritis. She's managed to enter remission and it's helping me become more hopeful. I am a 20yr old male who use to be extremely active in body building and working. I just feel as if I will never be the same way again. There are so many "what if's" and the overthinking is starting to take a toll on my health as well. I'm finding hard to sleep, be happy, or even want to get out of bed. Thank heaven that I am still eating normally. Though I know a change of diet would help, I have no idea where to behind. Here's my story. I look forward to hearing from you all. Thank you.

Hello, I am so sorry to hear that. But at least we're in this together.

I have seen a Rheumatologist and he was able to give me an injection of Depo-Medrol, it's been about 6 days now and I see nor feel no different at all. I completely understand the pain and the mental torture that comes with it. I don't see an end either. But my mother did tell me about dieting and how it plays a major role in healing and treating arthritis. I am going to look into diets as well as doing yoga and swimming, those are two greatly benefiting exercises that not only help physically but help with the depression too. If I find any good diets or exercises I'll be sure to share them with you.

I read a story recently about a man who had reactive arthritis, he had a strict diet as well as exercised and took daily multivitamins and after some months he is now RA free for two years! That's given me hope!

Yeah I heard about those tablets. I'm currently taking a daily multivitamin, fish oils, cranberry pills as well as glucosamine sulfate for the joints. You should definitely look into those!

I'm sorry to hear that. For the past 3 days my left knee has gotten so bad. I woke up this morning for work and I couldn't stand because both knees are now in pain, left is ridiculously swollen. I emailed my doctor and he prescribed me prednisone, I will be taking that 2x daily for 8 weeks starting tomorrow. I'm also starting a tai chi class tonight. I'm hopeful that things will start looking up for both of us

Hi I had a steriod injection about 2 weeks ago pain stopped in my wrist after about 3 days but it still has no movement at all 😣 it's already started to ache again now and also I noticed my pain in my neck and left shoulder blade is swollen now nd very painful apparently because inflammation has been helped in my wrist from the injection it's caused another area to flare up nightmare .I'm sick of not being in control of my own body and forever being in pain and it's hard for people to understand when they can't see anything wrong with me .how's things with u ?

Oh no I am so sorry to hear that sad have you been dieting?

For me, I've been in the prednisone since we last spoke. I've been well actually, there have been days where I can honestly say it's as if the arthritis isn't even there. Though I have a follow up appointment next week, I have been tapering down on the prednisone as well as the pain killers to see what my body can and cannot take. I've been doing decently this last week, only on one 20mg prednisone pill daily. I have noticed pain though in the heel, knee, spine, hip and wrist occurring again but nothing major from stopping me from working or doing any regular activities. I have no been dieting due to financial issues, but I have created a meal plan as well as a workout for when I am ready.

I won't lie, I did have a day or two in which I woke up completely unable to move a few weeks back, I was being careless and that resulted in me not being able to get out of bed. I had to crawl myself downstairs and to my car, but I noticed the more I move the easier it gets. We can't baby ourselves. I'm deeply sorry to have gotten back so late to you. I've been dealing with so many other issues as well. But I will be replying and checking on you daily

It's so unfortunate how flare up occur honestly, the randomness of it all. I know there's some way to beat this or at least control it. We'll find a way sad

That doesn't sound pleasant at all sad I really hope your specialist can give you some good news soon. I'm learning a lot as I'm becoming certified as a personal trainer and nutritional specialist specifically for this reason. All I can really say is stay on the strict diet sad

Maybe I can help come up with one that works for you, i notice everyone is different. As far as pain goes, what do you take?

I know what you mean about tablets. Hopefully your doctor can give you some good news as far as coming off at least one medication. I heard tumeric pills are great for inflammation, I'm looking into getting some soon. I also have a follow up appt tomorrow, I hope all goes well. I'm feeling great at the moment, my knee is the only issue with slight swelling. Fingers crossed for us both
