I have a very loud ringing in the ear, is there a home remedy?

I've had tinnitus since I was 16. I'm 43 now. Usually this doen't effect my daily life at all, i can hear just fine. When I woke up this morning, the ringing was louder than ever. So loud I can hardly hear anything else but the ringing. It will not stop or lessen in any way. Is there a way to get my normal hearing back besides going to a hospital?

You should go to the hospital. Sudden hearing loss is a medical emergency. They should be able to give you some Prednisone which could save your hearing. Don't look for a home remedy. The sooner you get to the hospital the better.

Go see a specialist and ask to be checked out for mienier's disease. If you are diagnosed with it please get back to me" I am looking for a common denominator, as I too have the same symptoms before my diagnosis for the disease.

Hi Joe, I wouldn't wait around with any sudden loud ringing I'd go and get it sorted with a hospital/doctor.

But I do wanna give you a home remedy that seems to be helping me.(I still have really good hearing but get a sort of white noise like static in quiet places)

I've found that taking a mix of melatonin and hurpuzine A right before I go to sleep has greatly reduced my tinnitus over time and improved my hearing to a point where I hear better than ever. There seems to be research showing that melatonin does in fact help for a lot of people. Hurpuzine does not have as much research(though I have seen others say it helps) but the stuff gives a really restful sleep and I think that really goes a long way in relieving the ringing.
