severe cellulitis

I am recovering from having cellulitis. I was in the hospital and in rehab for 3 months due to cellulitis. It is now slowly going away on my legs. I am wondering just how long it will take for it to go away completely.

Hi Judy - sorry to hear about your run in with cellulitis. It's painfully uncomfortable and life altering. I have had 6 run ins with it as a result of chronic lymphedema. I wear elastic garments during the day and a solaris tribute on both legs while sleeping. That helps to keep the fluids draining out of my legs. I'm not sure if your onset was due to fluid build up or a one time infection. If you have lymphedema, you'll always be prone to cellulitis. To help divert the infection, keeping the legs and feet clean and moist help. I recommend using Eucerin lotion. Hopefullly, this is a one time ordeal for you but when it will go away completely is different for everyone. My infections usually last 4-6 weeks and are treated with Amoxi Clav 875 and I see a lymphedma specialist along with wearing the garments day and night. Hope I helped...

Cellulitis is an infection of the skin caused by a bacteria or virus and cellulite is a condition caused by the breakdown of cells and fatty tissues. Cellulite is the dimpling, or cottage cheese affect visible on the surface of the skin, while cellulitis is usually an infection of the skin and is very painful.

I've seen people never fully get rid of it.  Vancomycin, which is a very strong antibiotic, has conflicting reports about it killing off your immune system.  I went to the hospital twice, and now I've tried natural remedies.

It can take months (with a supplemental prescribed antibiotic) to get rid of Cellulitis.  I got a 50% improvement in 24 hours with natural remedies.  I recommend that you augement your treatment with those.

I have been dealing with severe cellutitis for over a month and was wondering which natural remedies worked for you.

Please tell what the natural remedies. I have been on 5 different antibiotics in less than 2 months, including vancomycin-which was the 4th and provided significant relief. (I could finally just touch the leg without excruciating pain. ) I need this gone! I was off work for the last month of school and want to start the year with my class!

What do the doctors do exactly to determine if you have cellultitis? I am obese and believe I have a case of it .. Haven't made it to the doctors but am curious on what they do .. Do they draw blood or do they tell from checking you out?

      Hi Rose43547

Cellutitis is a patch or a large area of RED colored skin. I have it on both of my legs. I found out from the doctor that because mine was so severe I will have permanent scars from it. I hope this helps answer youe question. Cellutitis also includes sharp pain in the area but does not last for more than a minute or two. The pain is not there constantly only once in a while.
