Have I had a seizure?

Yesterday morning woke up to go to the toilet but before I could get there I felt a strange sensation in my body and my eyes went like tunnel vision, as if I was about to pass out (of which I have only done once a few years ago due to heat). I next remember dropping to the ground and hearing a very loud quick banging but I could not feel or see anything, the next thing I remember is lying on my boyfriends bed. My boyfriend recalls the event as me collapsing on the ground with my eyes open, where I then repeatedly started to smash my head against the radiator behind me (the banging I could hear) before shaking and 'fitting' for 10-15 seconds and then remaining unresponsive for a further 10-15 seconds. When I came too I had no recollection of what happened and was very panicked and scared. I have never experienced anything like this before and am unsure if this was a seizure or not?

Hi 😊, I am no doctor but I would certainly visit your doctor and if he feels it necessary he will refer you for test etc. Initially it does sound like a fit of some description, but again you need professional advice! Hope everything works out well for you x

See the doc right away, does sound like a seizure but fingers crossed may be a one off, but getting scans and eegs carried out is vital.  Good luck.

As others have said Bethan see a Doc as I have had Epilepsy since 14 puberty.

Now an old girl lol but it seems like it was on what you say, so go get it sorted and at least you will get put on meds if needed.  But you need to see a Specialist and if they say it was, make sure you get medication right for you xx

    Good luck

Oh lord..  Im sorry that the nurse ruled out seizure activity so easily.. Though I do suffer with seizure, I do not always bite my tongue or wet my self.. I would definately seek another opinion..  You really need  to find out why you are collapsing/fainting sweetheart..

Have gone back to my gp who has basically said that I will just have to see how it goes from here, if it happens again to go back for blood work but more often than not it should be just a one off, so I will have to wait and see.. Thanks for the advice

Like everyone has urged, you need to see a Dr. You may want to ask the Dr to do a blood workup. I have epilepsy, my sister doesn’t. About a month ago, she fainted and hit her head and taken to a hospital. A blood workup revealed she had a low potassium level and the Dr’s attribute it as the cause of her passing out. She now takes a potassium supplement and feels better, but says she’s not quit a 100%.

Years ago another sister fainted while in a bank. A blood workup showed she had low blood sugar.

A second opinion is a good idea. My current GP is one of the best and all around knowledgeable Dr’s I’ve had and will spend time with you. My neurologist is more old school. I’ve been going to him for 25 years. He runs his practice like an assembly line. Show up 5 minutes late and your appointment has been canceled. (I live in the U.S.)

      Hello Winnie

I’m doing well in the U.S.A., thank you. Just now got back from seeing my arthritis Dr. for rheumatoid psoriatic arthritis in my right knee. Get a little stiffness now and then, but everything is okay. Need to walk more, it helps. Take pills for it once a week and prescription amount of folic acid each day. I was 8 minutes late to see my arthritic Dr, no problem. Earlier this month, I showed up at my neurologist a half hour ahead of time. The nurse walked me down the hallway to his office 1 minute late. The Dr called her cell phone in our 1 minute late walk wondering where I was. Time (money) seems to be primary, the patient is secondary. Been seeing him for 25 years so I don’t want to change Dr’s since he has all of my records and the mountain of drugs I’ve been through. Thinking about starting my own pharmacy. Ha, ha.

Winnie, Take Care and Be Happy!

Steve, (Got to get the trash out.)
